Director - Compensation - Sallie Mae - Newark


Job description
The Director, Compensation will be responsible for managing the planning, design and administration of the organization's baseline and incentive compensation policies and programs in support of the company's mission/goals. In directing the corporate compensation function, the incumbent will take an active role in formulating the company's on-going compensation philosophy and ensure competitive and equitable pay practices and structures that balance risk and reward. The incumbent will manage a staff of compensation professionals and partner with the HR Business Partners and Business leadership to provide meaningful and value-add compensation support and consultation. The incumbent will identify issues in current processes or policies and recommend/implement corrective or alternative actions. Finally, the individual must possess proven experience in designing and implementing various types of compensation plans and will direct the governance of all company incentive plans. Strong analytical, financial, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate comfortably with Sr Management is a must. The successful candidate will be results oriented and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills and Experience
10+ years of compensation-related experience
Bachelors Degree
5+ years supervisory experience
3+ years STI design and administration experience
Experience in executive compensation experience including base, bonus and LTI design and administration
Proven experience in leading/overseeing complex corporate or multi-business level initiatives/projects
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word
Excellent communication skills. Comfortable collaborating with senior management
Ability to multi-task and complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CCP designation
Masters/Advanced Education
Experience using on-line pricing tools
Workday or equivalent ERP software experience
Experience in Financial Services Industry
