Director - Accounting & Reporting - Sony Pictures Entertainment - Miami

General Summary:
The Director is responsible for managing the Latin America Networks regional accounting team. This role provides the SPT Channels, Digital Networks and Ad Sales operating group support for all accounting matters such as: month-end close, corporate and management reporting, tax, compliance, audits, local statutory accounting and ad hoc and special projects.
The day to day responsibilities include oversight of all accounting activities including Accounts Payable, revenue recognition, programming amortization, preparation of financial statements and support schedules, and the accounting responsibilities performed by the Sony Global Business Services team based in the Philippines. The Director will also be involved in operating finance projects related to the Digital and Linear Networks.
The Director reports to the Executive Director, Finance, with direct responsibility for providing service to the heads of SPT Latin America Networks. This position interacts with all levels of SPT management in home office and Latin America as well as with SPE Corporate Finance. Some travel is required.
Responsibilities:
30% Accounting: Review/improve current accounting processes/procedures and reporting to improve productivity and effectiveness of the department. Work with the Sales, Traffic, Client Services and Ad Ops groups to ensure all revenue is accounted for in SAP. Review sales information in Operative. Oversee the AP process. Review and approve all journal entries to record revenue, cash, amortization, depreciation, adjustments, etc. Oversee the office allocations between shared services and divisions across the region. Review all accrual schedules. G&A analysis. Oversee procard reconciliations. Oversee the accounting of original productions including the green light process. Oversee all content licensing agreements and the accounting treatment. Oversee fixed assets management for all operational areas. Coordinate accounting entries and reconciliations performed by Sony Global Business Services team.
25% Month-End Close process: Oversee the territory close for the local offices in the region and the domestic close for the US companies. Review all sub ledgers and interfaces into SAP, account balances, and journal entries. Review the general ledger which includes the account analysis and reconciliations, detailed balance sheet reviews, allocations, and confirmation of Inter-company balances. Streamline, refine and improve the consolidation process. Analyze monthly trial balances and reporting packages received from the local offices within the region. Review and approve monthly bank reconiciliations.
20% Financial Reporting: Prepare management reporting packages, detailed balance sheet analysis, aging reports, cash flow reports, audit packages and other corporate required reporting. Oversee preparation and consolidation of the Channels, Digital and Ad Sales financial statements and supporting schedules. Prepare and submit monthly revenue and overhead/marketing reports. Assist the Finance Executive Director with special projects and ad hoc management reporting.
20% Supervision: Supervise and assist with the development of the regional accounting department and office coordinator. Responsible for the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow and internal controls of the department. Supervise accounting handled by the Sony Global Business Services team.
5% Audit/Tax: Oversee all internal and external audits including the preparation of audit schedules and oversee all auditor requests. Oversee all tax matters throughout the region including working with internal and external tax advisors, corporate tax inquiries, and preparation of corporate tax packages.
Desired Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have a mix of financial management experience including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning and business development.
Industry experience in cable, network, digital, advertising sales or television is preferred with international experience also a plus.
Excellent communication, presentation and strong management and leadership skills are essential to this individual’s success.
Knowledge of all facets of month end close including financial statement preparation and variance analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and experience in budget and forecast preparation.
Proficient knowledge of GAAP standards.
Proficient knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SAP financial system experience preferred.
Time management, as necessary for assigned tasks.
Fluent in Spanish and English, oral and written. Portuguese preferred.
An excellent prioritization skill is essential as well as ability to multi-task.

Experience: Minimum of 12 years of accounting experience, Minimum of 5 years of entertainment industry experience and 8 years of managerial experience required
Education: Bachelor’s focus on Accounting/Finance & CPA required
