Senior Director - IT Project Delivery PMO - Pacific Sunwear - Orange County


Job description
The position requires strong thought leadership and retail experience. It requires someone with a high level of responsibility to coordinate project activities across multiple business areas and 3rd party suppliers. Success in this role will demand strong program and project management experience, an ability to work well with key stakeholders and ability to drive results that meet or exceed business objectives and timelines. Success also requires the ability to get into the project details, when necessary. In addition to extensive program / project management, responsibilities include business development and vendor relations, and business case – ROI development. The position is also responsible for identifying emerging technologies / innovations that align with long term IT strategic direction while respecting Total Cost of Ownership. We value analytic thinking in this role and strong leadership /influencing skills, and require someone who can recommend courses of action to be taken in order to continue to transform the business.

Essential Job Functions

• Review project budget proposals and business cases
• Direct the IT Steering Committee
• Evaluate innovative and emerging technologies
• Develop and facilitate strategic relationships with business partners
• Negotiate vendor contracts / T& C’s
• Develop best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
• Oversee multiple, simultaneous projects from initiation to completion
• Manage large scale or high visible projects if and when required
• Accountable for project results - ROI
• Work closely with a project’s Executive Sponsor and key stakeholders to complete project given the scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget and timing

Desired Skills and Experience
Those individuals who have been most successful in this role begin with our organization with the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) and/or equivalent work experience required
• 10 – 12 years’ experience retail program or project management
• Strong problem solving and thought leadership skills
• Ability to manage a range of diverse individuals bringing each member to project alignment and completion
• Experience managing multiple projects with complex inter-dependencies
• Experience developing and managing complex project budgets
• Retail systems knowledge required
• PMP certification preferred
• MBA is a plus
• Knowledge of MS office suite
• Superb written and oral communication is a must
