Manager - New Product Operations - Sony Computer Entertainment America - San Francisco


Job description
The Manager of New Product Operations will manage a team of NPI program analysts to launch all North America and Latin America PlayStation developed and licensed software on time and with the highest level of quality. This role is pivotal to the on time execution of a high volume of software packaged product in a fast-paced environment. A successful NPI Manager is a natural leader and facilitator; is dynamic, driven, organized and detail oriented; excels in program/ project management; communicates with ease at all levels; thrives in an ambiguous environment and is adept at facilitating actions and resolving challenges. Furthermore, this individual is the team leader within North American Software Operations who will interface to the core Software Product Marketing and Publisher Relations team in addition to other functional organizations within PlayStation. Overall mission is a successful product launch defined by meeting stated schedule, availability and positive customer experience. All done with efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness.


Principle Duties / Responsibilities:
· Managing component readiness to ensure part availability, quality, and cost support product goals. Communicating status, requirements, and schedules to facilitate component readiness with cross-functional supply chain teams.
· Chair New Product Introduction (NPI) milestone meetings including agendas, minutes, action items, and updates to internal NPI tool. Managing all operations-related communications, upward and downward through the organization; escalating key issues and present options for resolution to the cross-functional executive teams

Lead software manufacturing facility project coordinator team in planning and executing builds and business model pricing to meet new product milestones, accurate invoicing.
Develop operations strategy for Sony PlayStation products; including Oracle system setup (SKU/UPC assignment/Bill of Materials), release date milestone communication, packaging configuration, licensee communications, cost and business model accuracy.
Develop monthly KPI analytics and implement high level quarterly business reviews.

· Influence product manufacturability, testability, and supply chain responsiveness in pursuit of low cost and maximum flexibility while stewarding the superior product quality expected of PlayStation products.
· Develop partner relationships and Interface with Licensed Publishers to ensure product milestones meet required launch dates and volumes.

Draft and publish procedural documentation once policy and programs are defined, enforce SCEA submission guidelines and requirements for all submission assets.
Actively participate in operational program and supply chain process development working with manufacturing, format quality assurance, account management, developer support engineers, packaging brand compliance, digital content operations, marketing, sales, and business systems teams.
Drive continuous improvement on all relevant operations and supply chain processes.

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Experience / Education:

Significant, results driven and detail focused, leadership experience required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to management.
Ability to drive solutions across multiple cross-functional teams, and the supply chain.
BA/BS or equivalent in Business/Materials Management/Operations Management or some other related field plus at least 5 years of Purchasing, Production Planning, or Materials Management experience. MS is considered a significant plus.
Strong milestone management and program management skill set.
Track record of customer service and business relationship development.
Must be able to quickly grasp technical concepts as explained by developers, submission support teams, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
Attention to detail, organized, disciplined with process and policy focus.
Proven track record of employee development for a team of 2 to 4 employees.
Excellent inter-personal skills - must be able to adapt working style to the personalities and work styles of our publishing partners.
Proven analytics and reporting skills (data mining, excel reporting, analysis, presentation development).

Preferred Experience / Education:

Broad knowledge of software media manufacturing.
Understanding of software development and quality assurance testing.
