Job description
Summary of Responsibilities:
Senior Finance professional responsible for all accounting and financial activities related to MetLife Real Estate Investors’ Core Fund, Managed Joint Ventures, and Individually Managed Accounts. Responsibilities include oversight of cash management, accounting and financial reporting activities performed by external Asset Administrator, financial review of new investments, review and approval of client quarterly financial statements and other accounting information, and management of staff.
Principal Responsibilities:
Oversee external Asset Administrator financial activities including review of property and REIT level banking activity, monthly accounting, quarterly and annual financial and investor statements, and capital call and distributions and other cash management activities.
Review and approval of NAVs and management fees.
Review of new investments including legal documentation to determine financial and accounting implications as well as establish banking and accounting policy and procedures at property manager level.
Work closely with Portfolio and Asset Management as well as in house and external tax advisors to ensure REIT compliance, including leasing activities, cash distribution, and reporting to clients and IRS.
Oversee activities of external Audit Firms and Tax Advisors, including sign-off and approval of engagements and reps/final approval of financial statements and tax returns.
Job Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:
Minimum of 15 years or more experience in Investments and/or Finance. CPA a plus
Strong Real Estate background in a leadership/management role, experienced in real estate equity investments and REIT compliance/management, US GAAP, IFRS, and Tax basis accounting, as well as REIS accounting and other real estate industry standards
10 or more years’ experience in financial/accounting oversight of Investment Management for Open and Closed End Real Estate Funds
Experience with Institutional investor needs
MBA or comparable degree preferred
Strong Communication skills, highly analytical and well organized
Dimensions:
Growing investment management business with approximately B in real estate equity assets under management, including Core Fund, REIT, and joint venture structures
Targeted to raise additional $10 Billion in open ended core funds, managed joint ventures and managed accounts.
