Design Systems Engineering (DSE) is a global team working across all business sectors, which provides an integrated toolset that supports the Engineering Process from concept exploration to component manufacture to in-service behavior. The tools are used for design space exploration, detailed design and analytical verification of system architectures and corresponding technologies.
We are looking to fill the position of Head of DSE at the Indianapolis site for Rolls-Royce Corporation. The team (currently approximately 40 people in size) develops, deploys and maintains design systems in the disciplines of fluid dynamics, mechanics, material and process modeling and design technology. We would expect the candidate to have significant background in aerospace gas turbine technology, but also has some experience in other business areas of Rolls-Royce. Responsibilities of the position include:
Lead and be Resource Manager for the local DSE Team.
Participate in the management of the Global DSE organization and be the on-site representative of the Global Head of DSE.
Drive local input to ensure that DSE plans and activities are globally aligned to achieve maximum integration across sites.
Develop and continuously improve the local team?s capability to deliver the required global and site technologies.
Develop annual budgets for the local team and manage the budget.
Recruit and manage staff.
Develop staff by participation in people meetings, secondments, mentoring, training, interaction with colleagues at other RR sites, universities and conferences.
Lead and Deliver allocated programs.
Manage local deliverables and report to relevant Program Manager.
Pursue saleable funding opportunities for relevant technology programs with National Government funding agencies.
Support DSE customers by providing engineering methods in key areas.
Develop a world class team of engineers which operate globally.
Maximize standardization and reuse of methods globally.
