VP ERP Solutions Architect Pearson - New York City



Job Description

Overview:

Responsibilities:
The VP of Solution Architecture will lead the definition of technical solutions to functional problems, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices for the ERP domain which also includes Reporting & Analytics and Data. The scope of this role is global, and primarily responsible for technical solutions supporting the successful delivery of global ERP implementations in alignment with Pearson’s global ERP roadmap.

As a member of the ERP Engineering & Delivery senior team, the VP of Solution Architecture will manage the work of three domain solution architects focusing on transactional systems, analytics and data, respectively, and also manage the Director of Project Management and Director of Quality Assurance.
The role holder will be responsible for:
  • Lead the definition of technical solutions to functional problems, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices
  • Lead efforts to leverage and exploit Enterprise Services Architecture and the open integration of all ERP applications and solutions to maximize both technical and functional value.
  • Ensure that utilization of ERP applications core functionality is maximized and customizations are held to a minimum
  • Produce documented reusable application processes, frameworks or architectures
  • Participate in analysis, requirements gathering, system design, software / hardware applicability studies to create a world class application architecture
  • Partner with external organizations like Oracle and SAP to understand the latest trends in the ERP space and implement them effectively
  • Conform to system architecture standards and practices and work with outsourced suppliers as required to keep up to date with enabling technologies
  • Serve as technology expert in Oracle and SAP for the following modules - (Financials, Manufacturing, Order Management, Projects, Human Resources)
  • Collaborate with both global functional and IT teams to develop robust solutions and processes in a boundary-less manner
  • Collaborate with multiple program teams to ensure designs conform to best-in-class architecture and business standards
  • Work closely with the SVP ERP Engineering & Delivery and VP Global ERP to drive strategy and tactical execution. Build a best-in-class IT systems environment that is scalable and will support organic growth and acquisitions
  • Accountable for full testing lifecycle service delivery spanning complete scope of application testing, including unit, functional, system, integration, performance, regression, and related data-driven testing
  • Accountable for the effective project management of information technology ERP projects/programs for Engineering and Delivery group, and ensuring project requirements are appropriately specified to allow timely, high-quality delivery.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications:
  • Related work experience
  • Extensive experience with Oracle or SAP technical architecture and deep expertise in one of the areas – Order Management, Supply Chain, Financials
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (Oracle Fusion Middleware and AIA, SAP NetWeaver and xApps, Informatica)
  • Experience in multiple ERP (Oracle and/or SAP) implementations and upgrades
  • Knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE)
  • Knowledge of or implementation of MDM
  • Prior experience with large transactional distributed applications

Formal education or equivalent:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering, Masters Degree preferred.
