Job Description
The Associate Director of Leadership Giving (AD) is responsible for planning and managing the identification, cultivation,solicitation and stewardship of individuals identified as major gift donors and prospects. Provides management and leadership to a team of fund-raising colleagues focused on enhancing and advancing philanthropy at MIT at the $100kto $5M levels. The AD is responsible for managing all facets of the Office of Leadership Giving's (OLG) development program in a defined geographic market.This includes: 1) personnel management, 2) budget oversight, 3) regional strategic planning, 4) regional prospect management, 5) team performance, 6) annual fundraising results from the region, 7) communications and coordination with other Resource Development functions, the Alumni Association and the Schools, and 8) managing his/her own portfolio of prospects. The AD will collaborate with Resource Development and Alumni Association staff, school-based fund-raisers, institute leaders, faculty, alumni, volunteers, donors, and members of the Corporation Development Committee.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree (advancededucation desirable); minimum seven years of direct fund-raising experience, preferably with a higher education organization and three years managing high performing teams. Successful strategic planning and goal setting required, and familiarity with the business markets within the territory a plus. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the benefactors and prospects of the Institute with a proven track record for closing major gifts. Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, and volunteers; and a proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning and efficient utilization of time and resources.
