Job Description
Role consists of working with QUALCOMM CDMA Technology (QCT) Engineering teams and providing IT support for their projects:
- Maintaining the functionality and efficiency of the compute clusters and related servers, storage, network, and desktop/thin client systems.
- Front-line interface to Engineering users for technical issues (email, phone hotline, desk-side and on-call rotation)
- EDA tool installation and support; Interfacing with 3rd party vendors as well as internal support teams.
- Working with HW and SW Engineers globally to develop diverse and complex IT solutions.
- Training users in applications and operating system fundamentals.
- Writing basic documentation.

Provide UNIX support services to Engineering teams engaged in the development of advanced microchip technologies.
Desired Skills & Experience
REQUIRED:
- 3-5 years Linux System Administration.
- 2+ years technical customer support experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency understanding and modifying scripts written in perl, python, ksh, csh and tcl, and writing scripts in at least one of these.
- IT Experience in complex, high availability production environments.
DESIRABLE:
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Expert.
- Knowledge of job batching/queuing/scheduling systems. (LSF, SGE, Moab)
- FlexLM license server administration.
- Experience supporting NAS servers and clients. (NFS, CIFS)
- Understanding of Virtualization and thin-client technologies.
- Networking skills. (TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP/PXE, Routing basics)
- Desktop (WinXP,7,Linux,Mac) support.
- Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and the semiconductor design process.

Required: Bachelor's, Computer Science or equivalent experience
