Senior Director - Finance, Analytics & Business Development msnbc.com - Seattle

Job Description

The Msnbc Digital Network is looking to hire a senior leader to direct its finance, analytics and business development functions. Reporting to the company’s President, this role will manage an organization responsible for driving strategic planning, finance, business intelligence, and growth opportunities in partnership with brand and functional departments.

Specific responsibilities:

Finance

• Direct long-range and annual planning, budgeting and resource allocation process
• Oversee accounting team and function including financial reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, close, audit, etc.
• Identify and capture opportunities for cost savings and productivity improvements
• Direct team to support business planning activities for projects undertaken by departments and brands

Analytics and research

• Manage team and responsible for quantitative and qualitative analysis and research that supports financial and strategic decision-making across the company
• Lead data and analytics effort to inform business decisions across the company. This will include developing and implementing programs for capturing and utilizing data to bolster sales, audience development and productivity, as well as providing custom and ongoing analytical reports to internal customers.

Business and Audience Development

• Oversee business development activities including partnerships and strategic alliances, key supplier relationships, and M&A activity.
• Provide direction to audience development strategy including social media, search engine optimization, and distribution partnerships, working in close partnership with marketing and editorial departments as well as brand teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 7+ years working in analytics, finance, strategy or business development
• Experience in online media, ecommerce and/or professional services with exposure to digital businesses; consulting experience a plus
• MBA from top tier program Skills and capabilities
• Strong people management and influencing skills; Excellent business judgment; Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives and project teams; Strong data and analytics capability, with the ability to drive decision-making based on analysis; Solid negotiating skills; Understanding of digital and media business models
