Job Description

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA), the leading innovator in console, portable, and online entertainment experiences for consumers is seeking a Director, Retail Channel Marketing responsible for leadership of a team of highly performing Retail Channel Marketing professionals dedicated to driving the success of PlayStation products in the retail market place.

The Director, Retail Channel Marketing fills a pivotal role at SCEA, driving the organizational excellence, strategic thinking, and strong partner relationships necessary to accomplish SCEA's goal of outstanding leadership in the retail market place. The Director, Retail Channel Marketing will work with key thought leaders to translate PlayStation products and messages into a compelling strategy differentiated by retailer. These retail strategies and experiences will speak to the unique core consumers for each retailer. The Director, Retail Channel Marketing, will lead the Retail Channel Marketing team to translate these strategies and experiences into specific actionable plans and will manage to the overall group to successful execution.

Principle Duties / Responsibilities:
* In partnership with stakeholders, paints a strategic vision of what PlayStation should be in the retail marketplace and drives Retail Channel Marketing group to develop initiatives that support that vision that are unique to each retail environment. Brand presence and promotional activity speaks to each retailer's core customers, driving sales to achieve SCEA's & retailer's objectives. Constantly thinking of and generating new retail environment concepts that elevate not only PlayStation but the overall gaming category in key retail partners
* Stakeholder in annual planning process. Responsible for leading and influencing SCEA's cross-functional teams in support of SCEA's business objectives and customer objectives. Ensures company alignment and enforces timelines on projects in assigned retailers to ensure successful and timely execution
* Leads the team that is responsible for sell-thru of PlayStation products thru retailer and online locations. Develops and delivers innovative retailer and product-specific recommendations for product placement and promotions. This can run the spectrum from specific interactive display features, to recommended planogram layouts, to exclusive bundle offers, to in-store promotions, and beyond.
* Utilizes analytics to measure success of programs and make modifications/recommendations for future programs based performance analysis. Communicates insights to key decision-makers to help shape the future of the business
* Drives team and company-wide awareness of the competitive environment and opportunities to promote and sell PlayStation at retail.
* Actively creates an environment in which the Retail Channel Marketing Team is pushing outstanding performance, both from that team and from partners. Holds all stakeholders accountable for results and ensures necessary analysis is undertaken to improve future initiatives/performance.
* Creates an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and partnership. Articulates a "best in class" expectation every single day.
* A key representative of SCEA at retailer meetings, responsible for proactively presenting retail plans, solutions, environments, and yes, issues.
Required Knowledge / Skills:
* An organizational master; understands roles & responsibilities of the cross-functional teams and fully engages other partners to achieve objectives.
* A planner and a closer. Articulates the big picture plan and sets expectations of partners to deliver against it.
* Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills. PowerPoint Pro.
* Strategic thinker. Able to take key product features, benefits, messages combined with knowledge of retail and business analytics and define new strategies and tactics for the Retail Channel Marketing Team to exploit at their assigned retailers.
* Knowledge of and passion for the videogame industry.
* Up to 60-70% travel. Position located in Foster City, CA.

Required Experience / Education:
* Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or equivalent related experience.
* At least 8 years consumer electronics experience with demonstrated history of accomplishment in the areas of channel marketing, product marketing, project management, or sales management. Most recently in a Senior or Group Manager role.
* Experienced in developing and managing joint and coop funded marketing programs with retailers.
Preferred Experience / Education:
* Master's degree or equivalent experience
* Videogame category experience or retail buying/planning experience
