This is a director-level position managing a team and working cross-functionally to drive the overall web strategy and execution of world-class online experiences for both business professionals and enterprise customers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams, influence senior management, and consistently produce exceptional results.
The Director of Web Strategy will align our website with our corporate objectives, understand how we spend our resources and measure our return on investment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross-functional team to define processes for effective execution of a comprehensive web strategy, management of content on a global scale, and continuous process improvement to support changing business needs
- Responsible for working with internal data teams to evaluate website performance (including revenue for our e-commerce site), assessing results, and making improvement recommendations
- Oversee the user experience to provide consistency, simplicity, and value while supporting corporate guidelines and corporate objectives to drive customer acquisition, sales, and retention as well as market awareness
- Develop integrated solutions to support online marketing utilizing expert knowledge of best practices and interactive tools
- Create/develop/tune content and web tools that will inspire web visitors, driving an increasing rate of return visitors, inquiries, qualified leads and conversion
- Manage content and web tools including product/service/technology information, customer success stories, features, demos, tours, interactive diagrams, video streaming
- Examine data and make recommendations to internal clients to evolve site content and web tools to maximize effectiveness of inquiry generation
- Create standards based on knowledge/learnings of site effectiveness, usability and business factors utilizing wireframes, storyboards, and mock-ups
- Maintain a leading-edge understanding of website management, information architecture, user experience, metrics, as well as web technologies, best practices, and possibilities
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships as needed on time and within budget
- Work cross functionally to ensure quality testing is done on the site during site upgrades and tool launches
- Work with client groups, peers, and management teams to define the scope, technical and business requirements, budget, benefit analysis, and cost justification for projects with site-wide implications
- Identify needs for new technologies and leads requirements building to vendor evaluation to implementation including blogging, discussion forums, podcasts and other web 2.0 capabilities.
Desired Skills & Experience
Education and Experience:
- Outstanding team player and positive attitude
- At least 10 years of web experience managing external e-commerce sites for business professionals as well as B2B and enterprise-focused corporate web properties
- Ability to drive and communicate strategy and tactical details
- Strong organizational, analytical, and conceptualization skills.
- Strong metrics background
- Ability to understand needs and impact on global web properties
- Knowledge of all phases of web production, including needs assessment, layout and architectural design, search optimization, functionality, and maintenance
- Strong aptitude for system and business process integration
- Understanding of SEO practices and strategies
- Strong web foundation including understanding of UI and web content best practices
- Hands-on experience with:
- CQ5
- Adobe Test and Target
- Salesforce.com (or similar CRM)
- Omniture, Google Analytics
- SEO / SEM
- Strong technical skills, including:
- Broad background in web publishing, user experience, design and supporting technologies
- Demonstrable, sound knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Understands concepts underlying AJAX, object-oriented programming
- Experience with server page languages such as PHP or JSP, and at least some experience working with an RDBMS (such as MySQL)
- Strong client management skills and ability to influence others
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a relatively pressurized environment
- Positive attitude, effective contributor, and the ability to work well with others in a global, team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with handling challenging negotiation discussions gracefully
- Solid understanding of web standards, best practices, and Web 2.0
