Platform Solutions and Emerging Business (PSEB)This senior leadership position has responsibility for developing a vision and plan for the Autodesk Volume Products and managing the marketing strategies, staff and budget in order to help increase the $300M business, expand the base of multi-millions of cloud and mobile users, and amplify the DWG brand.
Accountable for managing and directing the development and execution of product positioning, messaging, marketing programs, sales collateral and tools, processes, programs, initiatives, and global campaigns necessary to increase awareness, acquire new customers, improve retention, and support revenue goals for the volume, web, and mobile products within the Platform Solutions and Emerging Business (PSEB) division. Leader will also collaborate cross-functionally with extended teams including field marketing within the Americas, EMEA, and APac, web marketing, web analytics, market intelligence, marketing communications, and Public Relations. Responsible for championing marketing of Volume products and cloud technologies by effectively communicating the vision, objectives, marketing strategy, go-to-market plans and results internally, as well as externally with partners and customers, as appropriate.

Key responsibilities include:
Divisional Marketing Strategy - The Director, Product Marketing must think strategically and holistically about the PSEB products and initiatives within the Autodesk portfolio in order to creatively build integrated marketing programs that will drive revenue, seats/units, downloads, and adoption across the PSEB product line.
This includes such activities as:
- Develop, deliver and execute the annual division marketing plan and quarterly launches
- Centrally develop and globally execute revenue-driving campaigns
- Develop creative go-to-market strategies for new products and acquisitions
- Develop the credibility and expertise to maintain strategic relationships internally in the Marketing organization, with PSEB and other division groups, as well as across Autodesk
- Act as a central marketing lead for PSEB businesses at a worldwide level
- Develop a strong understanding of the international landscape and unique and dynamic Geo business requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships that foster extensive cross-functional collaboration with finance, legal, strategic planning and customer operations.
- Develop and communicate product brand and go to market campaigns to reinforce Autodesk as a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. Execution of Marketing Plans - The Director of Product Marketing is responsible for execution of marketing programs though direct reports and extended resources across Autodesk. This responsibility includes:
- Embrace new ways of helping customers explore, discover, consider, select, and acquire Autodesk technology through the web.
- Work across the organization to optimize the Trial experience and increase conversions.
- Use customer segmentation and personas to pilot new ways of personalizing the online experience. Provide messaging and content to accelerate the discovery, consideration, and the buying process.
- Develop overall Marketing-PSEB marketing processes, and standards for marketing success.
- Appropriately time marketing investments for maximum impact.
- Manage, develop, and coordinate the team to create messaging, print materials, online marketing content and sales tools working with internal and external resources (agencies, etc.). Examples include brochures and other collateral, direct marketing templates, newsletters, press releases, and advertising as needed.
- Ensure the consistent worldwide application of marketing messages and content.
- Work with the PSEB management teams to monitor product roadmaps and define the appropriate marketing and communications strategies for both customers and partners.
- Continually evaluate, challenge and adjust strategic marketing plans to meet evolving business and market requirements. Field and Geo Marketing Plans - The Director, Product Marketing works closely with WW Sales Execution teams to drive consistent use of messaging and marketing materials on a global basis. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the product marketing organization is delivering messaging and content to support the different needs of marketing teams globally. This responsibility includes:
- Define and develop appropriate volume sales tools to be used by sales and volume channel partners
- Monitor GEO based events, promotions and materials to optimize and promote reuse of programs globally
- Ensure alignment and integration PSEB product and program messaging and promotions into field and industry sales campaigns PSEB Product Line Groups - The Director, Product Marketing works closely with the Product Line Managers from each of the business units to understand product plans, directions. The Manager will use this information to define a holistic divisional marketing strategy that is supported by the product and industry marketing and messaging and programs. This responsibility includes:
- Evaluate and recommend messaging around new products to support the larger divisional message
- Develop budgets and plans to support launch and refresh of PSEB offerings
- Recommend and identify strategic marketing opportunities to Product Line Managers to better position PSEB products with other Autodesk products Budget Management - The Director, Product Marketing plans and administers the PSEB group's Product budget including coordination across investments from WWM, Field Marketing, and PSEB PLGs ensuring strategic alignment between the priority product and program investment areas. Team Management - The Director, Product Marketing manages the marketing team responsible for development of messaging and marketing programs as well as development of collateral and program management. In addition the team supports the needs of other teams inside the marketing organization. This requires creating a high performing, innovative team environment within direct organization as wells as connecting extended teams. Job Requirements:
- Extensive experience necessary in marketing and promoting retail and/or consumer software products through online and volume channels. Ability to balance and manage marketing directly to customer and through volume channels of distribution. Experience marketing web and mobile products and using in-product marketing to engage and up sell customers.
- Expertise in strategic development and execution of messaging and marketing programs is required, as is the need for highly developed analytical skills. The ideal candidate should have previous experience building and sustaining a worldwide messaging architecture and brand identity.
- Domain experience in the area of customer acquisition, customer loyalty, customer experience and/or services marketing is highly desired, along with the ability to identify business priorities, seek appropriate funding, support and tune marketing programs and validate ROI. The successful candidate must be comfortable crafting and articulating a vision and developing and delivering presentations to key customers, partners and the press.
- The successful candidate must be prepared for global travel as required to meet business goals, including participation in cross-functional and Geo-based initiatives. To be successful, the following skills and experience are required:
- Minimum 8+ years management (staff and budget responsibility) experience in Marketing, Product Management or related roles within a global software or other high technology solutions company. Previous Consumer Marketing experience highly desired.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field; advanced degree a plus
- Demonstrated ability and passion for successfully building globally-focused organizations. Expertise and reputation for building high performing teams that are passionate and highly engaged. Ability to recognize and reward team members and provide effective coaching, in particular as it relates to growth and development.
- 10+ years of experience developing marketing plans, programs and promotions for high technology, high volume products and services to both partners and customers, in a multi-channel sales model organization.
- Demonstrated success using critical thinking to formulate strategic direction
- Proven success in taking an organization though a period of integration, change and growth simultaneously
- Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects, juggling competing priorities, and meeting exacting deadlines
- Successful experience influencing within a geographically dispersed global organization is essential
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to influence and build consensus within and outside of the organization at the highest levels to garner support for business objectives
- Demonstrated success at skillful negotiation and strategy implementation
- Successful experience with the use of appropriate strategies and tactics to manage and resolve difficult or conflicting priorities between Product and Sales organizations
- Strong financial acumen and a proven track record of continual enhancements to the metrics (via analysis, reporting, management within budget, vendor contract metrics and pricing negotiation, etc.) within the candidate's previous organization is a must
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and strong executive presentation skills
