Director - Enterprise Network Architect - VMware - Palo Alto
Job description
VMware is looking for a Director of Enterprise Network Architecture to join their Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture team. The role will be responsible for leading VMware into the future of Networking and will be the primary leader in the global roll out of leading edge technologies such as Software Defined Networks (SDN) and NSX.
The Director of Enterprise Network Architecture should possess a proven track record of architecting at scale global enterprise networks and posses the passion, enthusiasm and vision for leading VMware’s Global Network strategy. The role requires a thought leader in Software Defined Networking that can provide direction and innovation for a hyper scale business that leads the way in Virtualized networking.
The individual must therefore welcome the challenge of aligning the ITaaS model with network architecture, standards and practices. This includes functions of the Architecture program such as the gathering business requirements, creating reference architecture standards, creating design documents, and presenting solutions to peers and executive staff.
The Director of Enterprise Network Architecture will also have the technical skills necessary to architect and design solutions for a global footprint; including WAN, Metro LAN’s and multiple global data centers and offices, he or she should be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of network topologies and approaches to Network transformation for scale and resiliency.
The role will have the following key Responsibilities
* Optimizing and evolving the current network for resiliency and performance
* Providing network architecture and design services that define VMware platforms and guide other teams.
* Lead the reference architecture and roadmap for global data, voice and video services
* Develop network standards based on emerging technologies and strategic direction.
* Develop a strategic network infrastructure that is scalable to meet application roadmaps as well as being secure and capable of adapting to security requirements.
* Demonstrate advanced understanding of business process implications underlying critical systems and networks
Qualifications
* Experience assessing large-company campus, branch office, WAN, and data center business needs, designing and documenting solutions to meet these needs, and driving external vendors where applicable to deliver against product and software roadmaps.
* 10 years of production IP networking experience, 6 years of large enterprise network design and architecture experience.
* In-depth understanding of software defined networking, network segmentation and virtualization technologies such as VLAN, VPN, VRF, NVO (NVGRE, VxLAN) and OTV. Experience with routing platforms desirable.
* Expert-level competence in IP routing/switching and security technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, AAA/Radius, IPsec, GRE, and their best-practices, fault-tolerant use at global scale.
* Experience in Monitoring, Capacity Planning and Automation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with other Senior leaders in the organization .
* Self-starter and highly motivated individual who demonstrates the ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines while working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
