Job Description:
This individual will be responsible for driving strategic marketing for the Sales and Strategy Relationships function primarily focused on Tax-exempt Distribution (health care, government, Taft-Hartley) and other Strategic target sales segments as needed. He/she will be a core member of team focused on driving market demand for Total Retirement Solutions (TRS) offerings in the plan sponsor community and will report to the Vice President, Segment Distribution Marketing in Sales and Strategic Relationships Marketing.
Specific Responsibilities
Based on target audience analysis, serve as lead to prioritize, develop and optimize brand marketing and positioning in prospecting and Sales cycle (i.e. awareness, consideration, lead generation, selling system) that enables greater prospect engagement and lead generation.
Develop and execute Strategic Marketing Plan(s) for target sales segments.
Lead innovative “test and learn” programs as part of go-to-market, optimize the marketing media mix including collateral, marketing materials, advertising, public relations, digital/e-media, social media, events, research, analysis, and thought leadership, webinars, core selling kits and other channels.
Manage and drive breakthrough creative and messaging direction, bring to life promising new campaigns and programs in the spirit of continuous improvement and market-leading presence.
Collaborate with IIS, IO and TRS sales teams, marketing management, marketing operations, corporate marketing, product marketing, intermediary marketing, strategic communications, and TRS B2B marketing to get the job done; address and resolve issues and roadblocks as needed.
Provide strategic direction and feedback to the creative team to enable marketing projects and initiatives.
Recommend new approaches, channels, tools and market opportunities to advance sales growth.
Desired Skills and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus.
Business and Marketing Experience: 7 or more years of experience in marketing (institutional and/or retirement plan advisors) or a related function. Financial services and retirement industry experience required.
Distribution Experience: In-depth experience working with plan sponsors, retirement plan advisors either in marketing, business development and/or sales distribution.
Leadership skills: Collaborative, results and client-focused with a “can do “leadership style.
Communication skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills required. Need to be able to convey strategies and deliverables in logical, fact based and market-driven approach. Excellent presentation, negotiation/influencing and executive presence capabilities required.
Execution skills: Proven track record of leading, defining, enabling and launching successful marketing programs in a fast paced, sales, matrix environment.
FINRA Series 6 and 26 required within 120 days of employment.
