Job Description
The Knowledge Specialist for the Geo Demo research team plays a key role in serving clients, working with client engagement teams, managing geo demo knowledge, driving external reputation building activities and working with the NAKC leadership team.
The Knowledge Specialist works with the NAKC leadership and McKinsey consulting teams to deliver significant, measurable impact to client performance. In addition to providing support and coaching to multiple consulting teams the Knowledge Specialist will also serve clients directly. The Knowledge Specialist also supports proposal development, client discussions, client workshops, and external presentations. This gives the Knowledge Specialist the opportunity to increase the Geo Demo team’s breadth of impact.
The Knowledge Specialist is a contributor to the Geo Demo team’s proprietary knowledge development efforts. This includes developing new perspectives on emerging trends in geospatial analytics across a variety of sector, creating new methodologies and functional capabilities, and codifying institutional knowledge on industry insights and best practices.
The Knowledge Specialist also works with NAKC leadership to introduce geo-spatial analytics capabilities to consulting teams to enhance McKinsey’s reputation building with our clients and may serve as the coordinator and facilitator of the team in building these relationships in collaboration with the Research Team Leader.

Background/Training
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong academic qualifications, and including an advanced degree (Master’s, PhD) in programs such as GIS, Geography, Sociology, Planning and other related fields
• 2+ years of consulting experience, preferably with project management experience
• Experience working with senior executives (internal/external)
• 5-7+ years experience working in one or more of the following industries: telecom, retail, financial services company, healthcare, or climate change. Professional experience will include a marketing, operations or strategy role (or an equivalent degree of industry exposure)
• Demonstrated experience in advanced spatial analytics techniques
• The ability to transition easily from theoretical perspectives to practical business considerations, and vice versa
• An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to get things done
• Strong interpersonal and analytic skills
• Strong communications skills – both oral and written
