Title: Director/Senior Director of Business Analytics
Reports into EVP of Growth
Manages a team of 10-15
Primary Responsibilities
As the senior leader of the Business Analytics team, you will be a key thought partner for the EVP of Growth, the Executive Team and the business at large.
This is an ideal role for someone who is looking to (or already has) made the transition from strategy consulting into an operating role in a consumer technology (B2C) online business, but one that leverages the core skills learned in consulting.
In this role, you will:
Work directly with Executive leadership to conceive and structure analysis, and deliver highly actionable insights from “deep dives” into specific areas of our business
Communicate findings and recommendations to a broad audience (including senior leadership)
Manage the relationship with 7+ business stakeholders (internal clients):
Acting as their thought partner
Helping them to identify major areas of opportunity
Interpreting test results, data and analyses
Setting and managing expectations (priorities, timelines) around the delivery of analysis
Manage a 10-15 person team of rock star analysts, including 2 senior managers
Developing team members into strategic thinkers; guiding them to think in terms of key business questions, decision frameworks and impact
Providing day to day guidance to ensure timely delivery of accurate analysis
Owning performance management and career development
Recruiting new analysts as necessary
Education
Required
Bachelor's degree, preferably in but not limited to Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Operations Research or Computer Science
Not required but nice to have
MBA
Experience
Required
4+ years at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (e.g. McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Oliver Wyman), investment bank or private equity firm, with at least 2+ years at the Associate or Sr. Associate level
2+ year(s) of managing significant parts of the client engagement, including: leading conversations to understand business context, building relationships with the client, identifying key business issues, structuring analysis, and managing the development and delivery of recommendations
3+ year(s) of people management experience
Experience participating in the firm's recruiting activities
Skill Set
Required
Incredible problem solver, able to operate at the 30,000 foot level and also at a detailed level
Ability to quickly learn a new business and identify areas of leverage
Deeply analytic but strong understanding of consumers (Left brain and Right brain)
Ability to conceive and structure analysis to solve complex business problems
Inspiring leader
Ability to package findings/recommendations from analysis in a coherent, impactful way
Strong presentation and communications skills
Proficiency in analysis and business modeling
Basic understanding of statistics and A/B testing
Not required but nice to have
Operating or Business Analytics experience at an online B2C company
Experience working on engagements focused on online businesses
Experience working on engagements focused on subscription businesses
Basic to mid-level proficiency in data extraction using SQL
Web analytics tools like Google Analytics, Omniture
