SoftBank Investment Advisers is seeking a Head of Portfolio Valuations to lead a global team, overseeing financial due diligence, analyses, and valuations for all SoftBank Vision Fund investments and other growth equity investments. The Head of Valuations has a deep understanding of theoretical and applied finance and has extensive valuation modelling experience (use of publicly traded comparable multiples, DCF modelling and option pricing).
Lead the development and maintenance of valuation models in accordance with SoftBank’s global valuation policies
Manage outsourced valuation services as needed
Oversee the creation and distribution of reports/slide decks in adherence to critical fund and investor reporting deadlines
Manage the valuations team’s ad hoc support to deal/finance teams with assigned investments
Maintain strong relationships with portfolio companies, deal professionals and senior management
Manage data collection across functional teams
Lead oversight and analysis of investment performance
Manage and/or perform financial due diligence for target investments
Present at the quarterly Valuation and Financial Risk Committee
Drive the year-end financial statement audit, as well as any statutory audits, and address additional follow-up questions/inquiries via internal or external auditors as they relate to portfolio valuations
Required Qualifications/Skills:
CA or CFA with a BA/BSc/MSc in Finance or Accounting from a top university; ABV accreditation is a plus
15+ years experience, in Big 4 Transaction Services or Private Equity valuation, with 5+ years experience managing a team
Solid understanding of IFRS 13, familiarity with IPEV guidelines and OPM, CSE, and PWERM valuation methodologies.
Experience building, testing and implementing valuation models
Deep understanding of theoretical and applied finance including corresponding mathematical framework
Strong interpersonal skills to interact confidently with Deal Professionals, Portfolio Companies and Senior Management
Strong written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail
Strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills, experience building macros is preferred but not required
Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic environment
