The incumbent is responsible for managing the business development process from the point of formal project initiation to transaction closing. This includes the development of the full business case, development of offering proposals, negotiations with the external party and post-closing support as needed. The overall objective is to secure rights/partnerships for external opportunities to enhance Sanofi Pasteur's early to late-stage R&D pipeline/technologies, Commercial portfolio and Industrial Operations assets and technologies which will generate growth on a global basis. In this role the incumbent interacts with and leads teams of Sanofi experts from R&D, Industrial Affairs, Finance, Intellectual Property, Franchise and Legal functional groups. The findings and recommendations are typically presented to Sanofi Pasteur and Sanofi senior management for approval.
Leads multifunctional team in the development of the full business case for each transaction. Prepares pre-AIF and AIF for approval.

The incumbent has the challenge of independently leading the evaluation of business opportunities from the context Sanofi Pasteur’s strategic plans and portfolio in an ever changing competitive business, intellectual property and technological environment. Successfully managing the business development process requires a broad set of business, negotiation, financial, interpersonal skills and overall technical/scientific knowledge. As the leader for the project the incumbent must be a highly motivated, self-starter with a disciplined approach to managing multicultural teams, internal alignment, as well as, timelines.
Since the evaluation and negotiation activities are by their nature a team effort, the incumbent’s ability to lead and work in a multi-cultural team environment is as critical to success as his/her professional expertise. The incumbent has significant contacts both at the Sanofi Pasteur and Sanofi corporate and externally.
Internally, the incumbent interacts primarily with the senior management and line management of R&D, Industrial Affairs, Commercial Operations, Intellectual Property, Legal and Finance. Additionally he/she has an important leadership role in negotiating teams. Hence, he/she is the interface between Sanofi Pasteur/Sanofi, its negotiation team and the senior management of potential partners.
Externally, contacts and relationships at the biotechnology company community are often at the President/CEO/COO level and without exception at the senior management level of their Business Development, Finance, and Intellectual Property and R&D functions.

Basic Requirements
Self-starter with high learning potential and excellent communication skills who has the ability to:
Lead and work with multi-cultural teams;
Interact and present projects to Sanofi Pasteur/Sanofi senior management;
Lead negotiation team in interactions with senior executives at external organizations; and
To creatively analyze and develop a solid business case including strategic, technical, commercial and financial aspects.
Education and experience:
Business degree (MBA preferred or BS with experience) and relevant scientific degree (MS preferred or BS with experience);
Relevant experience (>5 years) with preference for strong commercial/technical background;
