Operations Director Gap Inc. Fresno

Oversees the effective operation of a specific DC. Accountable for the day-to day people, service & cost performance of operations for the facility including the creation of a positive culture, providing guidance for the efficient use of resources, coordination of various facility departments, ensuring communication of objectives and direction to all levels within the facility. The Facility Director will partner with Brand Managers and other Facility Directors to ensure that all customer service goals are met. The Facility Director is the primary driver of standardized best practices implementation across the facility under their direction. The Facility Director ensures continuous improvement through pro-active leadership and development of direct reports and the DC Team by identifying individual strengths, development needs and growth opportunities using established Success Factor measurements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working Relationships / Communication
Leads operations team for the distribution center.
Communicates effectively with corporate divisions of Merchandise Planning and Finance.
Directs management team to establish priorities for the available work force and ensure proper execution.
Maintains open communication with all levels of management in the distribution center.
Supporting services ( IT, HR, LP & Tech Services) have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Facility Director but do not directly report to this position.
Personnel
Provides strategic direction to managers and supervisors for anticipating manpower requirements.
Ensures that all employees are adequately trained and qualified before being placed on production.
Ensures overall operation at maximum standards for production, quality, and attendance.
Verifies that DC policies to include safety and housekeeping are enforced consistently.
Budgets
Prepares annual budget.
Responsible for continual tracking of budget related information.
Reviews monthly Responsibility Center Number(s)
Inventory
Directs the procedures for calculating the financial roll-forward inventory on a monthly basis.
Responsible for overall physical inventories in the distribution center
Coaching / Leadership
Give and seek timely candid performance feedback.
Provide and pursue challenging assignments and development experiences.
Hold self and others accountable for achieving financial and other measurable objectives.
Develop and maintain collaborative and trusting relationships throughout Gap Inc.
Seek out/use diverse input and perspectives and leverage capabilities of all team members/business partners.
Celebrate team accomplishments
Act as employee advocate by adhering to open door policy, supporting policy and procedure and maintaining strong communication.
Build succession plan for role.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:
Daily interaction with facilities management staff, Divisional Transportation, line haul carriers, pool distributors, and general and regional managers. Directs workload with other managers. Works closely with management staff to establish priorities for the available work force and ensures proper execution. Communicates effectively with corporate divisions of Merchandise Planning and Finance. Maintains open communication with all levels of employees in the distribution center. Plays an active role in resolving DC associate related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Knowledge of transportation operation, distribution operating systems, logistics and forecasting
Strong leadership and motivational ability
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to develop and manage operating and capital budgets
Strong time management skills
Must be willing to relocate
2) Minimum educational level:
Bachelors degree required
3) Minimum experience:
Minimum 5 years management experience required
Knowledge and experience using various computer systems
Experience with development and use of variable budgets; familiar with basic accounting principles
