Director FP&A HARMAN International Northridge

The Director FP&A is responsible for all financial planning, forecasting and analysis of a +$700M business. This department contributes to the monthly Financial Close process by providing journal entries in the key business areas and supports the overall review of the financial statements. He/She understands the business and the detailed processes to be able to propose and initiate improvements, and to work with other departments to improve the way business is conducted, in alignment with the company’s objectives.

Main tasks relate to the Monthly Financial Close, Annual Budget cycle, Rolling Forecast process, Management Reporting, Financial and Business Analysis, Inventory Control, Process and Risk Control.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director FP&A is managing a team of 6 staff at different levels of seniority, including 3 with a direct reporting line to the Director.



Job Responsibilities:.

Provides Financial Close support in the areas of Revenue, Cost of Sales, SG&A and Inventory and ensuring timely reporting in consolidation system.
Drives the overall financial statement review and variance analysis.
Collaborates with Samsung entities to grown Harman/Samsung synergies.
Cooperates with Shared Service transactional processing and General Ledger Accounting teams to safeguard accurate and consistent accounting.
Manages Corporate Financial Budget and Forecast process for Americas region.
Supports Americas MT and Regional Commercial Directors in planning process, including coordination of target setting and performance measurement.
Provides standard and ad hoc reporting and analysis on all aspects of the business, on request and unsolicited.
Initiates and supports business improvement projects.
Performs ROI analysis on proposed changes.
Maintenance & compliance with SOX procedures and looking for process improvements.


Basic Qualifications:

Degree in Finance & Accounting or equivalent.
Approximately 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in an international controlling function.
Approximately 3 to 7 years of experience in managing a team.
Ability to work effectively in commercial environment and with functional departments.
Proven track record with regards to driving business performance and control, including improvement projects.
Ability to work cross functionally and cross divisionally ionato drive business.
Experienced in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Knowledge of/experience in ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Fluency in English.

Eligibility Requirements:

Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA.
