The President and CEO's office at Daimler Trucks North America and the head of global communication commercial vehicles are seeking an extremely motivated individual and proven expert in external and internal communications for the business critical position of Director, Corporate Communications. This position is a strategic key member of the leadership team focusing on communicating and leveraging the brand profile and values of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). As Director, Corporate Communications, you make a significant contribution in PR towards the development and management of the DTNA brand as well as heighten the awareness and presence of DTNA inside and outside the entire Daimler organization.
The Director, Corporate Communications will possess outstanding communications/PR skills (especially forward-focused given the technological transformation of our profession and the need to develop new tactics/channels) as well as have well-established and strong professional network inside and outside the industry and / or the company.

The final candidate should have experience in shaping, developing and leading an established communications team, both collectively and individually, by empowering team members to grow and to take on additional responsibility while sometimes addressing sensitive HR related situations.

Responsibilities



Complete oversight and responsibility for all Press and PR activities for DTNA ensuring synergy with DTNA brand values and products. Identify key Press and PR opportunities that add value and create exposure for the Daimler Trucks brand locally and nationally. Ensure that a high profile of all DTNA brands are built, enhanced and maintained internally and externally.
Develop, implement and monitor PR strategies across DTNA and all parts of its associated business units in the US, Canada and Mexico. Create, direct and execute media relations activities including new vehicle introductions. Manage all press launches to an agreed time frame and budget to achieve maximum attendance and awareness of brand.
Organize relevant press exposure for President and CEO as well as other Operating Committee members.
Lead and manage the development of entire department to ensure it achieves set objectives in conjunction with coaching employees to help them develop and reach their goals.
Liaise with all the areas of DTNA, national, regional, and local media, and key figures within associated sectors and service suppliers regarding all newsworthy activities, DTNA brand awareness, and industry matters.
Actively engage in the global senior leadership team of commercial vehicles communications at Daimler, liase with the head of global communications as warranted.
Build and maintain relationships with trade, business and online journalists through regular round table meetings and discussions in order to update the media on changes and developments with DTNA.
Manage an effective media tracking system utilizing up-to-date methods to measure press exposure for the brand. Identify, monitor and manage reputational issues on a local, regional and national level.
Monitor Corporate Communications standing with key journalists/media contacts to ensure quality reputation is achieved and maintained.
Work in innovative and integrated ways to exploit cross-company relationships and increase cost efficiencies.
Develop and maintain internal communications in a multi-cultural work environment.
Direct DTNA media website.
Direct and control Corporate Communications budget.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, or Business with 8 years relevant experience..
Advanced degree preferred.
Confident personality, ability to handle stressful situations and effectively able to interact with senior management of Daimler Trucks North America.
In depth industry/company knowledge and understanding of our business/b2b, Daimler Trucks product knowledge, ability to think strategically and connect-the-dots inside and outside the company also required.
Proven knowhow in corporate, trade and online media relations.
Strong understanding of strategic planning and project management techniques required.
Proven ability to compile dynamic PR plans for medium and long term business unit support required.
