Senior Director Global Benefits Expedia Bellevue

The Global Total Rewards team is looking for a creative, curious, and analytical Senior Director of Global Benefits, accountable for leading the team’s effort in the design, development, implementation and communication of innovative global benefit plans, programs, solutions and policies that ensure Expedia is able to attract and retain the best talent in the industry.

As a member of the Global Total Rewards leadership team, you will provide benefits expertise and guidance in the evaluation and selection of suppliers, consultants, and partners, and be able to lead the negotiation of fee structures and contracts. The ideal candidate has a pulse on emerging markets and practices and is considered an industry thought leader with contacts across the industry.
This role is an opportunity for you to play a crucial role in the continued evolution of Expedia, Inc.’s rapidly growing global business. To be successful, you’ll need to have a data-driven approach, strong communication and influencing skills, and an unerring sense of how to balance multiple priorities under tight deadlines within a dynamic matrixed environment. The position requires working closely with various senior partners across various lines of business and brands within Expedia, Inc. globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, initiate and implement Expedia’s overall Global Benefit strategy and philosophy.
Assess Expedia’s current benefit programs, practices and policies alongside the market and market trends; as well as tax, social and legislative changes with the goal of delivering world-class employee experiences and market competitiveness.
Direct the planning, development, implementation, administration, strategic planning and budgeting for Expedia, Inc.’s global benefits. Ensure global Benefits programs governance is aligned to the global HR strategy.
Overall financial management of Expedia Inc.’s global benefit annual budget, cash flow and intercompany charges.
Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Legal resources to ensure feasibility of costs, risks tolerance, and legal implications.
Manage the strategic business partnerships and relationship with all external Benefits vendors and third parties.
Oversee legislative and law changes, update plans and plan documents through partnerships with outside counsel to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local benefit laws globally.
Partner with the senior leadership team and present annual benefit plan renewal recommendations to the CFO, CEO and SVP HR.
Mergers and Acquisition due diligence and integration, as needed.
Oversight and management of Expedia, Inc.’s Executive Deferred Compensation Plan
Benefits Governance: as part of the Benefit Plan Administration Committee, conduct ongoing Fiduciary oversight for benefit program management against identified initiatives.
Build, guide, mentor, motivate and retain a team of outstanding Benefits professionals.
Ideal Experience:

Proven track-record of at least fifteen years’ experience in a Consulting or Global Benefits function with a strong background in design, development and delivery of benefit programs for large multinational companies is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of emerging global markets and market trends, as well a deep understanding of emerging cultural and competitive practices
Previous experience in a software / technology company or fast-paced, global and matrixed environment.
Solid knowledge of global benefits developments and the innate curiosity and desire to continuously learn more.
Experience in successfully building, leading and developing high-performing, global teams. Understands and accounts for regional and cultural differences.
Strategic thinker combined with tactical execution. Analytically minded approach and good problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Demonstrates excellent business judgment and ability to move and evolve with the fast-changing needs of the company.
Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and work well under pressure to meet deadlines within short time constraints whilst maintaining the utmost attention to detail.
Ability to navigate the complexities of multiple internal and external stakeholders including our senior leadership team with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with deep data and insights as a basis for improvement. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to cut through complexity and turn high-level business requirements and opportunities into specific projects.
Demonstrated agility to work collaboratively across a global matrixed organization and functions in a rapidly changing environment.
Strong program leadership skills and the ability to coordinate, organise and prioritise critical workstreams to drive business results.
