Director Commerce Product Management Ancestry San Francisco

Ancestry seeks a talented Director of Product Management to join our Commerce team. This role is one of the most critical leadership roles at Ancestry as the large majority of strategic priorities of the company touch Commerce. We are looking for a product leader who’ll lead the Commerce platform and experiences into the future to stay ahead of company’s explosive growth. The role provides a lot of opportunities to innovate, with incredible support from senior leadership. It requires a customer champion focused on identifying and driving projects to help make the purchase process as quick, seamless and easy as possible for the customer and build the underlying commerce platform that is flexible and scalable. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of product ownership and drive, coupled with a strong passion for technology and innovation.
What will you do

● Provide leadership for product vision, roadmap, requirements, prioritization for all aspects of Commerce include purchase experience and underlying platform that includes capabilities such as order processing, catalog and discount management, payment processing, subscription management.

● Serve as a leading voice of the customer and act as a customer experience advocate in considering product decisions that will impact the customer.

● Define, track and improve key product metrics.

● Communicate to all relevant parties and key stakeholders the information necessary to make

informed approval, prioritization and tradeoff decisions.

● Engage with engineering and project management leadership throughout the product

development lifecycle to ensure clarity of requirement and to make scope tradeoff decisions.

● Work closely with Marketing, Analytics and AB testing teams to launch products and ensure

their adoption.

● Develop and maintain relationships with key business owners and senior management

across engineering, Marketing, Legal, Infosec, Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Program

Management, Architects and engineering.

● Guide the product managers in the team to provide clear requirements to build capabilities in

iterative manner, prioritized by customer value.

● Inspire and empower Product Managers, each responsible for defining and delivering the

ecommerce product capability roadmap.

● Develop and nurture a growth mindset around the evolution of your team through active mentoring and coaching.

● Hiring, retention, and succession planning.

● Support senior leadership in ongoing change management, improving product management, product development, and project management practices.

● Commerce team is split between San Francisco, CA and Lehi, UT. So you will have to work with remote teams and travel as necessary.

Qualifications
Who you are


Technical Acumen 


Masters preferred, or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. 

10+ years of strong product management experience with at least 5 years in in execution of tech related projects preferably in an agile software development environment.

Deep knowledge in payment, subscriptions and orders processing technologies, process and domain. 

Experience in building core payment products and taking them to market at scale globally.

Proven track record of getting things done and done well with lots of examples of projectss you've spearheaded.
Thorough understanding of product development processes and lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using iterative methodologies.

Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike.
Ability to successfully collaborate with multiple technical functions in the areas of infrastructure, account management, software engineering and customer support.

Balance technical and commercial acumen; able to communicate what is possible and what will have the biggest impact on the business.

Able to understand the direction of commerce experiences online and offline and define a product direction to maximize for impact on Ancestry’s goals.

Able to define key OKRs and use metrics to drive performance and provide data in support of key decisions. 
Stays abreast of key competitor actions and their implications or threats to the business.

2+ years of experience in managing direct reports.
Ability to lead people and build teams for excellence in product management and delivery.

Build and lead a team of stellar product managers.
