Twitch is building the future of interactive entertainment. Every part of the work we do is with the goal of making Twitch even more efficient, resilient, and responsive. We are rapidly expanding our currently sizable infrastructure and are looking for someone who can help facilitate the growth of the Twitch physical footprint around the world. You will be directly involved in the strategy, planning, negotiating and operations of the Twitch global data center and points-of-presence footprints as well as establishing a supply chain, asset management and logistics presence globally. This position is well situated for someone that is a strong leader with a track record of execution in the building, staffing and operations of data center space on a global scale. In this role, the successful candidate will need to determine and drive appropriate methods, processes and tools for effective management and oversight of data center equipment, assets, inventory resources and operational support.
Build and create the operational support team(s) necessary to ensure an amazing Twitch experience for all of our users, while finding creative ways to keep operating costs to a minimum.
Build and maintain strategic long-term relationships with data center colocation and micro edge providers for effective, efficient, and scalable delivery of Twitch content to users.
Establish and manage a Data Center Operations Team(s) responsible for the operation, installation, maintenance, and operation of server, networking and data center hardware.
Establish and manage a Data Center Operations Team(s) responsible for all aspects of supply chain, asset management and logistics.
Establish and manage A Data Center Engineering team responsible for all aspects of datacenter and POP design and engineering.
Mentoring managers and leads such that they can run all aspects of daily operations with minimal supervision.
Drive creation and enhancement of operational toolsets to as well as capacity planning for efficient evolution of the twitch deployment.
Drive the development and implementation of toolsets and processes which support:
○ Data driven operations and decision making
○ Efficient equipment installations (servers, switches, routers and storage hardware)
○ Timely equipment repair and upgrades
○ Rapid troubleshooting of issues with hardware and Linux OS
○ Capacity management
○ Inventory control
○ Track systemic issues
○ Provide reporting and capability to manage to key metrics
Communicate progress collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams including business development, network operations and deployment/provisioning teams.
Work on new process documents with internal teams.
Requirements
15+ years of Global Data center management and leadership experience. Preferable with experience on a global scale to include operational support, supply chain and logistics.
Experience Working with Public Relations and taking a leading role in managing the ongoing relationships with local, regional and national entities as required.
Demonstrable ability to hire, develop and manage high-performing technical teams. ● Track record of successfully scaling facilities, process, custom toolsets and teams. ● Functional knowledge of critical environmental mechanical, electrical and control systems ● Experience developing and managing capital and operating expense budgets. ● Experience in vendor and supplier performance management ● Experience launching facilities and teams in on a global scale. ● Deep knowledge of information technology in infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, and IT service delivery ● Strong written and communication skills to include long form business documents ● Ability to identify issues and drive them to closure by bringing together key stakeholders for decision making ● Ability to build strong relationships with and develop influence with other teams and vendors ● Experience interpreting contracts and other legal documents ● Bachelor’s degree or related work experience
