The Director, Operational Excellence / Technical Learning & Capability is accountable for the overall programming of Integrated Manufacturing Excellence (IMEx) Ecosystem implementation and site Technical Learning & Capability function. He/she provides integration of IMEx activity with all site functions, and with other API Operations sites, the Network Excellence function, and regionally based resources. Along with the Site Leadership Team, ensures site IMEx plans, performance metrics, and objectives are progressing according to plan in support of longer term strategic business goals. Works closely with Network Excellence personnel and other API Operations sites to implement and refine the API Production, Quality Control Laboratory, and other Ecosystems.
Responsible for leading the Operational Excellence (Op Ex) and Technical Learning & Capability (TL&C) at the site and aligning them to site business objectives / operational goals and Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) strategy.
Ensure that the learning and development needs of the organization are identified, strategic programs are designed to bridge the gaps, implement the programs to effect the change and evaluate the effectiveness of the program to ensure business needs are met.
Ensure that learning systems are audit-ready, continuously improved and are not only compliant to the site and corporate requirements but also “Best in Class”. Works closely with Center and Regional TL&C colleagues to assure that learning approaches are aligned with PGS best practices.
Create a site culture based on lean operating principles and six sigma based problem solving fully consistent with Integrated Manufacturing Excellence principles.
Develop the site’s continuous improvement and cross functional team based“mindset” working with local and PGS organizational development resources .
Responsibilities critical to the performance of this role include the following.
Set up and develop the Operational Excellence (OpEx) organization and manage all site specific OpEx activities with guidance from site and area / business leadership including Network Excellence to improve and the fundamental value proposition including Quality, Supply and Cost.
Develop and implement projects to cultivate a continuous improvement mindset based on lean principles.
Develop a cross-functional team at the site trained in Root Cause Analysis, Lean systems and Innovation skills.
Work closely with site management and stakeholders in API Operations, and Network Excellence to identify areas where OpEx projects can add value to transform the company’s performance.
Work with site functions to prioritize OpEx projects and monitor their progress with respect to timelines, resources and commitments.
Promote the common understanding of OpEx strategy and culture across the site.
In collaboration with site leadership, API Operations Leadership, and Network Excellence establish targets for OpEx metrics and develop strategy to meet or exceed these targets.
Ensure the implementation and reporting of OpEx metrics to monitor OpEx performance.
Promote good practices and share knowledge across the site and within the PGS network in order to benefit from organizational learning.
Develop and update site processes to comply with PQS Q1228 and other regulatory requirements. Ensure that all elements of the Training Quality System are maintained compliantly
Lead the Technical Learning team to achieve the site Training Strategy and business results in key areas such as: developing technical competency of colleagues, equipping colleagues with skills to deliver and improve the value proposition through effectively performing and improving day to day operations.
Develop a robust, sustainable and efficient training system that is audit-ready at all times and providing timely and appropriate learning solutions.
Reinforcing a performance–based learning culture throughout the organization through a variety of approaches on and off the job to support and encourage development activities. Making Learning as one of the drivers for our business to grow.
Educational background for this position may include the following.
A degree in a Science or Engineering discipline. Postgraduate qualification in a technology / management discipline is advantageous but not essential.
Qualified M1 trainer / Pfizer Humam Performance model Facilitator.
Adult Learning Techniques.
Relevant experience for this position may include the following.
At least 10 years of diversified management experience in production, quality operations or engineering in the pharmaceutical industry.
Other Job Related Requirements:
Black Belt/Green Belt in Six Sigma or Lean.
In-depth understand of automated Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient operations.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques.
Demonstrated passion for Continuous Improvement.
