The Role requirements:

· Deep knowledge of ML domain. This involves deep expertise in every step of the ML modeling process, extensive experience in deploying ML solutions for real-world applications, and proficiency at understanding business requirements and framing them as ML problems.

· Strong organization building skills. This Applied Data Science is a unique organization with a mix of disparate skills (Research Scientists, Applied Scientists, SDEs, SDMs, and Technical PMs), across multiple physical locations (Bangalore, Seattle and Palo Alto). The leader has to build the organization from ground up, hiring and developing niche technical talent, organizing project efforts across multiple parallel work streams, and building a bench of managers to scale the organization.

· Strong cross team collaboration skills. This involves interfacing and partnering with technical and business leaders across organizational boundaries to deliver ML solutions for a variety of business problems. For example, the leader will have to work across multiple business leaders across multiple business and functions, to build and deliver a high-impact roadmap.

· Strong prioritization and influencing skills. This involves prioritizing business opportunities for applying ML, influencing business leaders to adopt ML-based solutions when appropriate, and convincing product managers to make the necessary infrastructure investments (e.g. for high-quality data collection) to enable ML solutions to business problems.

· Strong communication skills. This involves clearly articulating the benefits and limitations of ML to stakeholders (at all levels) in the business, setting correct expectations on what ML can (and cannot) deliver, and educating partner teams about how ML works and what is required for ML to be successfully employed to solve business problems.
Basic Qualifications

· A PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, mathematics, or similar level of applied research knowledge gained through industry experience.
· 10+ years solving complex problems in some combination of predictive modeling, auctions, and machine learning.
· Experience managing and growing teams of applied researchers.
· Ability to balance long term "think big" research with practical business driving scrappy solutions.
· Great communication skills to explain complex concepts to teams with differing backgrounds, build trust and create engaging partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications

· Experience managing engineering teams delivering machine learning production systems.
· Experience with leading Software engineering teams
