The technical project manager is responsible for the introduction of new products and processes into the central manufacturing organization. This role will require having a strong mechanical/electrical engineering background to effectively manage the program from early prototype builds through the launch of production. In this role the technical project manager acts as a liaison to the cross-functional groups in the launch of the product to ensure products are optimized for cost, manufacturability, testability, supply chain flexibility, and efficiency. He/or She will lead cross-functional efforts responsible for driving the execution of the build plan, manpower, materials, machine, and methods in order to setup the manufacturing line to meet the business and quality targets. Following the product launch, the technical project manager is responsible managing the flow of production, identifying critical elements for resolving to ensure there is a smooth transition to production within cost, quality, and capacity parameters. Understanding technical fundamentals of each design change, and impact to upstream and downstream processes to achieve operational goals is essential.

Manage the Powertrain-Remanufacturing Battery program from a global standpoint
Lead change control meetings and product coordination (North America, Europe, and APAC)
Drive results through cross-functional teams (supply chain, engineering, product excellence etc.)
Setup build plans and evaluate constraints
Support all new product launches
Provide direction to trial engineers for priorities/change requirements
Perform cost and tradeoff analyses for inventory
Administer NPI structure criteria’s and processes per commodity
Coordinate with Manufacturing/Process engineers to support rollout/integration of new changes
Communicate matters with cross-functional teams. A key indicator of success is your ability to communicate manufacturability matters to the engineering team along with driving changes to improve the product
Deep understanding of the production line layout, flow, and modeling. The role of the introduction group is to bring new lines and products into the organization. Understanding all the different manufacturing models and strategies is instrumental in guiding the development of new manufacturing lines. Concepts which you should have deep understanding of are:
Flow of production, takt, touch, and cycle time
Identifying critical elements, and methods for resolving
Statistical process controls and designing lines to build multiple products
Innovate ongoing structure, and take lead on new program strategies
