The Senior Director of Core Systems Applications is a critical role in building Hyperloop One’s flagship suite of systems applications.
Responsibilities:
Will be a member of Systems Development leadership and will be directly responsible for managing the design, development, implementation and maintenance of core systems applications.
Define actionable plans for short and long-term systems application deliverables. Ensure these plans align with the Hyperloop One’s strategic plan.
Responsible for timely delivery of project initiatives, achieved through a combination of experience driven planning, hands-on work, and external vendor management.
Build and maintain sound business relationships with the company’s external partners and service providers.
Ensure scalability and accessibility of applications and services.
Work to continuously improve effectiveness, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Develop, track, and control the core systems applications annual operating and capital budgets.
Ensure applications meet high standards for performance and stability
Make the case for build vs. buy decisions
Work in close partnership and collaboration with product development, brand and business teams to develop roadmaps and achieve project goals
Ensure comprehensive code reviews and general code quality and standards
Work with peers focused on architecture to integrate applications into the enterprise infrastructure.
Qualifications:
7+ years of relevant technical experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
Transportation and travel experience in fast-growing environment preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience managing and deploying applications within a regulated environment
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent level required but Master’s degree preferred.
Proven leader and manager of software development teams
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge and practice working in Agile development environment with strong engineering principles (XP, SCRUM etc.).
Strong preference for experience in the following:
- Event driven and message based systems
- Building and continuously deploying applications to cloud platforms
Solid understanding of SQL, noSQL solutions (Mongo / RavenDB / etc) and other high-powered data platforms is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with executive management.
Experience in financial services and/or investment management, a strong plus.
Ability to adapt within a rapidly changing environment.
Demonstrated team player, self-starter, and independent thinker.
