VP Autonomous Software Hyperloop One Los Angeles

VP of Autonomous Software will oversee and manage complex Engineering and Customer infrastructure projects necessary to deploy Hyperloop One’s automated services. The VP will be tasked with continuous improvement of our automated system standards, practices, and tools to ensure adherence to infrastructure and security best practices.

Responsibilities:

Will be a member of Systems Development leadership and will report to the SVP of Systems Development.
Leads, guides, and manages a group of system engineers in the development of new and autonomous driving features. Group is responsible for developing feature and system requirements, cross organizational system design, execution and evaluation of designs, and analysis, development, testing and control of major system engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment.
Manages overall automation systems engineering execution with other departments, functions, and suppliers
Provides technical leadership to engineers in the creation of requirements and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Supports subsystem/component technical decisions
Actively supports process improvement activities focused on high first-time delivery quality and 100% on-time execution
Lead global teams to deliver results for regional development activities, data analysis and test procedure generation and automation
Trains, develops, mentors, and manages employee performance
Reviews and approves engineering documentation
Required Experience:

ADAS/Autonomous systems (Autonomous Driving and/or Robotics)
System integration of sensors, actuators, and by-wire vehicle controls
Implementation of computer and sensor architectures and interfaces
In-vehicle experimental validation and testing at automaker or Tier-1
Vehicle localization: testing experience with GPS, visual localization, tight GPS/IMU coupling and HD maps
Use of tool sets for acquisition, data processing, and visualization of large-scale data sets
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
In-depth knowledge of autonomous, advanced driver assistance and/or collision avoidance features and their required technology
Experience with Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (DFMEA)
Experience with the following programming languages and environments: Matlab, Python, Java, OpenCV, or C/C++
Knowledge of engineering systems concepts, techniques and methods
Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices
Experience with Cybersecurity and Functional Safety designs
Experience in leading projects and people
Ability to identify and remove roadblocks and escalate as appropriate
Demonstrated leadership ability
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and drive work output
Ability to create and maintain an environment that enables all participants to contribute to full potential
Strong problem solving ability
Eight or more years of experience in job-related area
Education and/or Training:

Candidate should have one of the following engineering degrees: BSE, BS in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Master’s Degree in Engineering (Preferred)
Experience with the development of automotive safety or convenience features (Highly Preferred)
Design for Six Sigma experience (Black Belt Certification)
