The Director, Production Finance role is responsible for supporting Sony Pictures Entertainment film productions worldwide. The individual will manage accurate accounting of pre-production, production and post production budgets on assigned titles. Position serves as point of contact between studio and productions. Role will manage budgeting, hiring freelance accounting staff, film subsidies (applications, audits, receipt tracking) and compliance. Cross functional interaction is required to provide insight and guidance to physical production and executive management. This role reports to the SVP & Controller, World Wide Production Finance.
Manage weekly EFC and cost accounting for film titles Manage film tax credit applications, filings and collections
Analyze and track progress of productions, provide insight into potential areas of risk and opportunity
Manage freelance production accounting staff and ensure studio policies and procedures are adhered to
Assist with cash requirements and budget targets to support quarterly and year end reporting
Education, Years of Experience, Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required:
B.A./B.S.
4+ years - production accounting experience
Advanced Excel, Movie Magic Budgeting, Vista and PSL
SAP knowledge a plus
Advanced knowledge of production subsidies and tax credits
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent analytical, organizational and forecasting skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work and remain detail oriented
Deep understanding of production cycles
Strong presentation and communication skills
