The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional Association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual. As part of the AMA’s Physician Engagement team, the Director, Medical Student Section will increase the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral engagement of medical students by providing professional leadership to the Medical Student Section and staff supporting the Section. The Director will identify emergent needs of medical students, facilitate communication between students and the AMA, work with Section leadership to develop and implement strategic plans, and provide oversight and management to staff members.
REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master’s degree in relevant discipline from an accredited college or university, plus extensive experience in research and report writing

2. Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write a diverse range of material, develop well thought-out policy positions, and edit material prepared by others

3. Prior knowledge of AMA or association governing processes experience is preferred

4. Ability to lead, develops, and mentor staff

5. Organization, prioritization, and management skills to handle a variety of multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced team environment

6. Polished interpersonal, decision-making, and political skills to interface and communicate with all levels of staff and management, and build relationships with members

7. Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and conceptual skills

8. Travel and extended hours required
