Crackle, Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) digital network, is looking for an extremely talented Product Director whose primary focus will be increasing Crackle’s retention (return visit user audiences) across all platforms and business verticals. The goal being to ensure the business is able to achieve its growth and monetization targets by delivering maximum value to consumers, partners and stakeholders across all product verticals.
The Director Product - Retention is a person who is deeply connected to the world of digital video entertainment; a person who understands consumer behavior (data driven) and evolving trends with respect to video consumption on traditional platforms (e.g., linear TV) and emerging platforms and devices. He or she is passionate about what they do and is motivated by the opportunity to have a direct impact on and a front row seat to the digital revolution affecting media today.
The Director Product - Retention will be responsible for owning/driving the roadmap defining enhancements to consumer facing applications, CRM toolsets toolsets, client facing merchandising enhancements etc running from registration, to addressing churn through personalization all the way through various engagement KPI’s. The role’s ultimate function being to increase usage, drive loyalty while simultaneously defining/driving a multi touchpoint CRM toolset for the business to communicate with users across verticals. As such, the Director Product - Retention will need to ensure an innovative, engaging and evolving return user experience, balancing the needs of the end user with those of our advertisers, MSO/OEM partners and brand marketers.
The qualified candidate will have at least 5 years of direct Product Marketing/CRM experience with the ability to be nimble and recognize when to pivot strategy in an always-evolving digital landscape, while also taking advantage of industry trends both locally and globally. He or she will ask questions like, what are our truths related to the return user experience? What value can we add to ensure users have a reason to come back time and time again? What are the most effective touchpoints we have with our audience and how can we maximize our ability to communicate via those touchpoints? An in-depth understanding of Agile software development methodologies, consensus building, stake holder management and product management best practices in an agile environment (in order to effectively manage multiple concurrent and dynamically changing efforts) are essential as well.

Responsibilities:
Manage the product retention team
Develop and track all key metrics related to Crackle user registration and device activation, specifically the ease-of-use, usage of promoted benefits, returning users activity, etc.
Keep on top of industry trends and technologies, and be prepared to apply them quickly
Keep on top of Crackle’s trends and technologies, specializing in registration and user benefits and how they compared to competitor trends
Refine and enhance Crackle’s current user benefit offering while creating and maintaining an additional backlog of future features and experiences
Ability to take the strategic view while not being afraid to roll up sleeves and contribute tactically as needed.
Author/review/edit detailed product briefs for consumer, programming and marketing features/experiences defining the why and the what for a given initiative
Work closely with programming, marketing, content operations, research, legal and PR teams to ensure product specifications include all necessary business requirements
Create/review/edit flow charts and user stories and work with solution design and UI/UX teams to ensure product specifications are met with final the solution/design
Work with project management/release team to ensure final products are built to the product specification and UI/UX specifications
Develop and track all key metrics related to Crackle programming/merchandising areas, specifically which areas/programming give us maximum viewership versus areas and programming that under-performs.
Must be able to manage a product specific budget, track resource allocation and delivery against budget for each particular task
Own long term retention and CRM roadmaps to ensure all meet business objectives
Relationship management with stakeholder including driving consensus and prioritization
Ensure that all new features, enhancements, applications are viable across all territories/implementations.
Determine if external consultants or contractors should be added to the internal project and/or development team(s) in order to successfully complete the project. If required, handle the recruiting and managing of these temporary resources.
Lead, coach, and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
Any other tasks as assigned or required

Requirements:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the digital media, marketing, advertising or entertainment fields
3-5 years of experience in managing subscription, heavy user acquisition or high quality streaming services (live or VOD)
Minimum 5-7 years CRM experience (direct experience preferred, indirect possible) in product marketing or associated role
Background in at least one of the following types of products: connected TVs, mobile devices, game consoles
Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of concurrent projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment
Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
Must demonstrate solid organization/communication skills
Experience leveraging and interacting with all social media platforms
Data driven with a strong attention to detail and familiarity with analytics/segmentation tools such as Adobe Audience Manager (or other DMPs), Exact Target (or other equivalent CRM tools), Adobe Analytics (or similar reporting suites)
Ability to secure cooperation and drive consensus across senior management and other departments as well as partners internally and externally
Movie, television, music and technology junkie
The candidate must have a BS, BA, or advanced degree in computer science, communications or related field, or relevant work experience
MBA not required but strongly preferred
Global experience not required but a strong plus
Understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript and other presentation technologies a plus
Understanding of streaming media protocols and DRM such as HLS, Smooth Streaming, PlayReady etc. a plus
