In your role as an Associate Director, Communications at Kellogg, you will be part of our success by:

Supporting emerging and active issues and crises by:
Identifying and current emerging issues, developing playbook and materials, and preparing reports/evaluating outcomes
Monitoring traction for issues via Kellogg’s heat index and maintaining its effectiveness
Proposing new, cutting-edge thinking on issues and crisis communications to keep Kellogg’s issues and crisis response relevant, stakeholder-focused and aligned with a digital-first philosophy
Advise on and participate in stakeholder engagement efforts
Serving as member of North American Incident Management Team and back-up for Corporate Incident Management Team, leading communications for crises and issues
Protecting and defending Kellogg Company’s global reputation in traditional and social media:
Preparing responses to issue-related media/social media inquiries
Conducting research and coordinating with industry organizations, as needed

WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?
As well as a hunger to learn and succeed in Global Communications, to be considered for this position you must be able to meet the following requirements:

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related discipline required with a proven ability in understanding communication principles and practices
Extensive related experience
Ability to demonstrate effective critical thinking and strategic planning skills
Must be able to drive alignment with a variety of key customers throughout the organization including senior leaders and external vendor partners
Ability to manage and prioritize work load and meet deadlines in a fast-paced communications function
Ability to succeed as a people manager to grow the talent of the communications function
Ability to identify and analyze business and audience needs to deliver messages via the most appropriate mix of media and channels
Experience working with journalists at top-tier publications
Excellent communication skills, including both written and oral communications, fluent in AP Style
Absolute ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and possess a high level of accuracy with information
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, wire services, media monitoring software, digital and social media
Preferred:
Experience in a corporate communications function in a mid- to large-size, publicly traded company
Food industry experience
Proven experience thriving in a fast paced, crisis management environment
