The Director of Decision Science will provide both thought leadership and people leadership to develop and implement increasingly effective Analytics and Decision Science capabilities as part of the CCNA Strategy and Decision Science organization. Partnership and collaboration with other functional areas will include, but is not limited to: Strategic Planning and Execution, Performance Management, Customer and Consumer Behavior, Marketing, Category Advisory, Revenue Management, and Promotion Optimization,
The overall goal is delivery of actionable business insights through the application of advanced analytics capability which leverages the CCNA data asset portfolio. Ongoing development and enhancement of this capability will be concurrent with insight delivery, and will include expectations of gains in productivity, business relevance, and complexity over time. This leader will partner with other Directors and with Group Directors in Decision Science, Data Strategy, Knowledge and Insights, and CCNA IT on the CCNA data and analytics agenda. Execute on a pipeline of transformative projects designed to utilize our expanding capability and support our growth agenda. Develop and execute a roadmap to rapidly advance CCNA’s advanced analytics capabilities. Provide coaching, guidance, and capability building to Decision Science team, internal clients, and the System-wide advanced analytics community.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Develop and maintain use case agenda for advanced analytics

Stewardship of a set of analytics use cases that are business critical, actionable, and have substantial return for analytics investment. Primary responsibility to assess current and potential use case agenda using rigorous business metrics. Sequencing of use cases based on business needs and current state of the analytics capability. Coordination of use case agenda across the CCNA organization, to leverage synergies and avoid unnecessary redundancies.



Analytics Use Case Execution

Lead Decision Scientists on execution of analytics use cases for successful insight delivery as measured by:

Critical to current business needs
Actionable
Optimal balance of time to deliver and level of detail/accuracy
Quality of deliverable
Storyboarding and packaging of insights customized for diverse business audiences, including executive level


Specifically, the Director will have primary responsibility for setting detailed and specific project expectations, monitoring progress, conducting periodic reviews, and generally ensuring the highest level of quality in all work output. The Director will also be responsible for ensuring the Decision Science team clearly understands the objective of each business case and the overall business climate



Capability Building

Primary responsibility for continued development of the Decision Science team’s advanced analytics capability. This includes both technical capabilities in analytics as well as development of the skills required to build business knowledge and continually enhance relevance and action ability. Partner with Decision Science leadership to develop and maintain Analytics Center of Excellence roadmap or the Decision Science team. Partner with Decision Science leadership to track emerging trends in the analytics space, and make recommendations to adopt/monitor/defer innovative tools and technologies as appropriate.





People Management

Lead, develop and effectively deploy the Decision Science team members. Ensure high level of performance through application of effective performance enablement. Work with each team member to build detailed, thorough, and current development plans. Ensure resources are allocated according to current business priorities. Maintain high level of associate engagement and morale.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Minimum Required: MBA or Masters in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Advanced Analytics, or other technical degree



Preferred Level: MBA or M.S.



Experience



Minimum Required: 5 years post-MBA experience with progressively increasing responsibility; strong understand of technology, business systems, capability building and general management principles



5 years with deep experience on the application of data and analytics to drive transformational growth and/or emerging ‘big data’ field



Preferred Level: 7+ years post-MBA experience. KO System experience a plus.



General Skill, Knowledge and Abilities skills



Strong general management understanding of the CCNA business, the key levers that create value for our brands, customers and Systems; Demonstrated facility at navigating complex organizations



Strong analytical, conceptual and quantitative problem solving skills with experience in financial modeling. Simplifier of complex issues. Excellent written and oral communication skills, meeting design, and facilitation skills.



Comfort and skills surfacing and dealing with conflicts. Strong teamwork and team leadership skills, including project management, collaboration and influencing without authority. Able to maintain pace of rapid iteration and communication and multi-task across responsibilities.



Preferred Level: As at left plus people management; familiarity and experience with consumer markets’ business paradigms
