About You
You put people and experience first. Culture, empathy, trust, and generosity are at the heart of everything we do at Etsy.
You have experience building engineering teams. You know how to work with teams and recruit talent; you understand what makes the people on your team tick because you know the work they’re doing, and you’ve spent your time in the trenches. Your peers see you as a sounding board, a mentor, a coach, and an excellent decision maker.
You are a leader. You are comfortable with being out there and talking to people—both in front of your team, partners within Etsy, and out in the tech community.
You subscribe to the philosophy of attack-driven defense, that knowing how to break something places you in a stronger position to defend it. You understand that people are just as important as technology when it comes to security, and that the soft skills of you and your teams are imperative to a strong and successful security program. You strongly believe that the function of a security group is to enable and not to block, and that the only way security can scale is to develop a security culture that is inclusive and progressive and has space to have everyone contribute to.
