Job Purpose:
Reporting to the SVP/GM – eSolutions, the Director of Course Solutions sets strategic direction and functions as the leader for developing online solutions to address innovative educational trends (e.g., includes but is not limited to “concept-based curricula”) in nursing and health careers higher education. This position closely collaborates with business stakeholders across eSolutions, Content, Marketing, and Sales regarding strategic product goals relative to the Education strategy and customer need.Develops strategies that lead to measurably improved customer value and market defined competitive differentiation. Experience in the nursing and/or health professions markets, content acquisition and/or development, team management, along with a strong understanding of e-learning technology is desired.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Vision and Strategy
Devise and execute strategy for new concept-based and other online course solutions across Nursing and Health Education division
Determine vision and execution plan, including content scope and needs, content restructuring needs, content development plan, and project execution plan for additional assigned e-products, including self-assessment and certification review products
Formulate vendor strategy and manage vendor relations for contracted platform partners, including 1200+ title ebook publishing program on VitalSource Technologies and Kno platforms
Manage online and ebook product integration process for integrated course solutions
Communicate customer-centric strategic vision for product lines to marketing and sales divisions and evaluate marketing plans
Bring new eProduct ideas forward for evaluation, elaboration, and research
Problem Analysis and Solving
Monitor and interpret customer and market data and initiate ongoing eProduct improvements that are customer focused and address emerging market needs
Recognize and interpret current and future trends in the health care higher education market and initiate meaningful eProduct innovations
Manage team of product managers to address ongoing customer input and evaluate their input for both short-term and long-term product enhancements
Leadership
Establish effective and collaborative relationships with subject matter and other experts in health care education and technology
Collaborate with eSolutions product and platform management team on department-related efforts related to inter-division and cross-division communication, project management, and team leadership
Understand business needs and possess effective organizational, initiative-taking, and financial skills
Manage team of product managers and other team members as deemed appropriate/needed to accomplish product development and product release objectives, including scope, budget, and schedule
Execution
Devise and execute product roadmaps in team-based approach to product development
Promote open exchange of information related to eProduct development and delivery across divisions, including technology, user-centered design, operations, production, content, marketing, sales, customer and sales support

Desired Skills and Experience
General Knowledge and Technical Skills:
Experience in health care or higher education publishing with electronic products. Experience with e-learning, including learning management solutions (LMSs) and ebook platforms. Experience working with a variety of stakeholders at the leadership level.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or above in business or liberal arts with 5+ years of educational publishing/educational technology experience. Strong management and team building skills. Adaptability, team orientation, attitude of discovery and problem solving, and keen awareness of emerging educational content needs. Project management experience in eProduct development.
