GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
As Product Owner, you will be responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with development, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. You will collaborate with the development team to drive product development in line with the three year product road map. Ensure that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identifies opportunities for emerging technology and business issues that present opportunities or threats to the company.
• Identifies new market opportunities within the company’s distinctive competence.
• Defines product requirements for O&D revenue management based on customer feedback and market research; creates the business requirement document (BRD).
• Develops and executes a product vision and road map.
• Defines user personas and use cases for the product.
• Drives product development based on requirements management and product lifecycle.
• Defines and launches excellent products
• Creates executive briefing documents to drive decision-making process.
• Ensures knowledge transfer of product functionality to sales, delivery and customer support.
• Influences cross-functional teams without formal authority to drive solution strategy
• Delivers technical, fact-oriented content for pricing, positioning and collateral.
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
• Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
• Builds and manages a virtual team comprised of worldwide members.
• Act as a leader within the company
• Demonstrates product knowledge with external audiences, such as thought leaders, industry consultants, speaking engagements at conferences and user groups, etc.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science or quantitative field (Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or similar.)
Prefer Master’s degree in business, engineering, computer science or quantitative field (operations research, industrial engineering or similar.)
EXPERIENCE:
Product Management knowledge: 7+ years’ experience in product management, marketing, consulting or related function in the technology industry. Prior Product management experience specific to the travel or hospitality industry
• Airline Industry Knowledge: Understands principals of airline O&D revenue management and inventory control. Prior work experience in an O&D revenue management function at an airline is a plus.
• Communication: Excellent analytical skills, is a strong negotiator and facilitator, and has excellent written and oral communication skills. Desire strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must be able to interface appropriately at all levels (i.e. engineers, management, executives).
• Systems Analysis: Determines how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes, knowledge of products and system architecture. Must have sharp analytical skills and be a solid facilitator.
• Leadership: Solid leadership qualities. Must be able to work with limited supervision and be accountable for actions and decisions. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Product Life Cycle: Full understanding of the phases of product life cycle, including engineering specifications, customer requirements gathering, software design and development, testing - including unit, functional, systems and integration, implementation/delivery and maintenance. Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent software solutions.
