We are looking for a highly motivated & passionate enterprise product design expert to join the GE Oil & Gas Digital Product Management team. As the Director of Design, Prototyping, & Validation, you will report to the Vice President, Product Management, and you will be responsible for expanding and leading a team of designers and driving the discipline of “Design Thinking and Doing”.

Essential Responsibilities:
You will need to create and build strong working relationships with not only product division colleagues in Product Management, Engineering, and Demonstration Services, but also Commercial, Marketing, and Customer Success. Your charge will be to lead the global team responsible for ensuring GE Oil & Gas Digital solutions earn top ratings from customers in terms of usability, fitness-for-purpose, and ease of adoption, as well as clarifying and honing GE Oil & Gas Digital’s understandings of its key market segments and users. Your work will play a critical role in enabling GE Oil & Gas Digital Asset Performance Management applications and technologies to achieve maximum user adoption, customer value creation, and GE revenue impact.As Director, you will:
Work with Product Management leadership colleagues to continue evolving the vision and strategy for User Experience and Design.
Work with Product Strategy, Product Management, and Engineering counterparts; external analysis and design consulting partners; and key members of the Commercial and Customer Success teams to select and study each target market and its users to define requirements.
Lead the team that devises rich insights, personas, workflows, prototypes, designs and other key artifacts to inform the applications roadmap and enable the development of world-class Asset Performance Management solutions that support the Oil & Gas industry’s highly technical and scientific needs.
Develop relevant UX strategies, promote user experience best practices, build a team that contributes valuable assets to the style and pattern standards, and create designs that not only establish and grow a brand but also create a loyal following of users who proactively promote and evangelize on GE’s behalf.
Recruit and retain top talent through the quality of your work, the environment you create, and the coaching you provide to high-caliber designers.
Represent the design and brand of Oil & Gas Digital solutions internally at all levels and externally in a variety of venues: conferences, customer design studies, focus groups, one-on-one customer exec briefings, etc.
Optimize and define new processes and tools to accelerate the rate of and raise the quality of large-scale, enterprise-grade software sales and deployments.
Will become recognized as a highly credible UX Design champion within both GE Oil & Gas and GE Digital and collaborate effectively and credibly with GE Digital PREDIX Design and Engineering colleagues.
Provide coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to direct/indirect reports within the broader team.
Qualifications/Requirements:
>Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a leading design school or program, Master’s preferred.
A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in user experience design OR Master’s degree with 10 years of experienceEligibility Requirements

Must be willing to travel (roughly 40% of the time)
Must be willing to work out of an office located in either San Ramon, CA, or Houston, TX.
Desired Characteristics:
Experience commercializing, launching, and scaling SaaS products.
Experience working with Oil & Gas industry firms and/or solution providers.
A portfolio containing at least 3 enterprise Design engagements that demonstrate your abilities to:
Rapidly develop credibility in a highly technical domain.
Engineer products that encompass both hardware and software.
Deliver your best work despite time and budget constraints.
Experienced at managing within a budget, delivering to mutually agreed-upon deliverable dates, and working in an Agile-based, design sprint model.
Proven ability to manage, retain, and inspire a top UX talent following through your management style and quality of your work.
Exceptional presentation skills and capable of being an asset to other executives in their customer engagements and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence effectively across all organizational levels, including members of GE and customers’ executive teams.

Exceptional ability to structure presentations and content to a range of audiences for maximum impact and clearly articulate design decisions verbally and in writing.
Adept at working with and managing globally distributed teams across disciplines.
Experience with designing industrial, commercial applications.
Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
Demonstrated experience delivering on commitments to clients.
Demonstrated capability of 'rolling up sleeves and getting hands dirty'.

Senior-level business acumen. Technical Expertise:
Experience with industry-leading, high-fidelity prototyping and graphic design tools (e.g., InVision).
Ability to maintain and manage design sprints in industry-leading requirement and release management systems.
Strong cross functional collaboration and influencing skills at high levels and an ability to make decisions that have deep impact.
Ability to interpret accessibility, legal, multilingual, and locale requirements and regulations and deliver compliant designs.
Ability to evangelize shared best practices and communication techniques across teams at GE.Business Acumen:
