ComiXology is seeking a results-driven “player / coach” – someone who can lead our UX and visual design team but also be an individual contributor. We’re looking for someone who can design across platforms, has a passion for usability, and can design elegant solutions to complex tasks.

Oversee UX, information architecture and visual design for mobile and web products
Manage, grow and mentor team of UX and visual designers
Spearhead a top to bottom UX and visual redesign of all products – from web to iOS to Android and beyond
Be the voice of UX and heavily influence design within the company – we want to learn from you
Hands-on design: Develop concepts, wireframes, and prototypes
Gather key insights into customer behavior to find their unmet & unspoken needs
Collaborate with Product Management to drive product strategy and the development roadmap
Create clean, straight-forward, innovative user interfaces
Be the user-advocate by subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective
Evaluate and introduce a repeatable design process (ex: Lean UX)
Show off your tech savvy skills while collaborating with developers
Above all, have fun creating the next generation of digital comics
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of UX design for consumer facing products (web, responsive design, and native mobile)
Demonstrable UX & design leadership and people management experience
Expert in designing clean, intuitive and innovative interfaces
Knowledge of current UX best practices and design processes
Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences, including senior leadership
Experience driving field research and usability testing, and turning the output into data that can drive product design decisions
Solid experience with user-centric design (but know when to break the rules)
Excellent interpersonal, business management, and developmental skills
Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines under normal circumstances, and ability to make trade-offs and when needed to optimize outcome when conditions change
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
