The purpose of this position is to partner with team leaders to lead the strategic management of high complexity, high impact teams or multiple related projects teams through stakeholder/alliance/partner management, scope, meeting management, strategic development plan/timeline management, cost, resource and risk/issue management. This position is expected to manage (or lead) large, complex or high impact IPT and/or IST programs, is able to identify organizational gaps independently and able to effectively influence the organization for resolution.

Independently leads, organizes, and provides management of strategy development to program teams for high complexity, high impact projects and establishes and maintains high performing teams
Manages or leads independently large, complex, or high impact (high priority) IPTs/ISTs, including management of agenda development, documentation of meeting discussions, decisions and action items. Ensures independently the completion of agreed action items. Ensure appropriate archiving of project documentation.
Helps to set the strategy; able to lead complex strategy development; identifies organizational gaps and influences program environment (function heads, senior R&D and commercial management) to address gaps that impact the program.
Manages the planning and use of resources and manages finance, functional team members, and stakeholders to secure adequate resources and budget alignment; Recognizes potential portfolio implications of resource needs and ensures appropriate forecasting to facilitate appropriate portfolio management. Ensure that the project remains within agreed budgets.
Generates and maintains global strategic integrated project plans, project timelines, high quality risk management plans (as needed), and communication plans; resolves complex problems and difficult stakeholder management situations. Generates critical path analyses and supports scenario planning. Leads issue resolution meetings. Leads risk identification, prioritization and mitigation planning processes.
Maintains project status in the project management information systems. Maintains project status information for communication to stakeholders. Prepares independently, in partnership with the team leader, scope change proposals and progress/issue communications and project decision point proposals for formal presentation to senior management.
Manages independently within a matrixed environment, coaches, influences, and mentors more junior PMs, team members and stakeholders in the program team environment (manages direct reports if Group Leader)
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree (ideally in science, engineering, or management) with relevant professional experience or equivalent; advanced degree highly desirable. PMP or similar professional project management certification is a plus
Experience
Minimum 12 years' experience in pharma industry and at least 8 years drug development project management/leader experience
Industry experience: Direct, global pharmaceutical or drug development experience required
Mature in managing people directly and/or in a matrixed environment
