The purpose of this position is to provide strategic management of high complexity teams through meeting management, strategic development planning, timeline management, stakeholder management, risk/issue management, finance and resource management, and conflict resolution. This position may manage IPT and/or IST projects and provide PM leadership in establishing development strategy.

Responsibilities

Independently leads, organizes, and provides management of strategy development to teams for high complexity projects (within the context of the Global Development Process and Functional Procedures) and establishes and maintains high performing team.

Manages independently IPTs/ISTs, including management of agenda development, documentation of meeting discussions, decisions and action items. Ensures independently the completion of agreed action items. Ensure appropriate archiving of project documentation.

Leads, develops, and manages strategy development and operational activities. Identifies gaps in GDP and FPs that (potentially) impact program delivery and escalates appropriately to program or functional leadership.

Manages the planning and use of resources and works with finance, functional team members, and stakeholders to secure adequate resources and budget alignment and to ensure that the project remains within agreed budgets.

Generates and maintains strategic integrated project plans, project timelines, high quality risk management plans (as needed), and communication plans. Generates critical path analyses and supports scenario planning. Leads issue resolution meetings. Leads risk identification, prioritization and mitigation planning processes. Maintains project status in the project management information systems. Maintains project status information for communication to senior management. Supports the team leader in the preparation of scope change proposals, project decision point proposals, and progress/issue communications for formal presentation to senior management.

Manages within a matrixed environment. Coaches, influences, and mentors junior PMs and team members.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor’s degree (ideally in science, engineering, or management) with relevant professional experience or equivalent; advanced degree desirable. PMP or similar professional project management certification is a plus

Experience
Minimum 10 years' experience in pharma industry and at least 5 years drug development project management/leader experience
Industry experience: Direct, global pharmaceutical or drug development experience required
