At KPMG LLP, our approach to delivering audit services – whether a financial statement audit, an integrated audit, or other attestation services – is risk-based, industry-specific, and tailored to our clients’ particular operational structures. KPMG auditors use a multidisciplinary approach to combine such technical knowledge and skill sets as tax, forensics, information risk management and valuation as well as an industry focus. We are currently seeking a Managing Director to join our Independence practice in our NYC office.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with lead audit engagement partners and KPMG audit clients on the resolution of questions regarding KPMG's compliance with professional independence standards, including those established by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
Lead and participate in various Independence Group projects and initiatives with a specific area of focus on assessing permissibility of non-audit services under the relevant independence rules
Document current and future states suggesting improvements to existing or new independence quality controls and processes
Develop, modify, and provide field training on firm-wide independence policies, communications, and guidance
Partner with national firm leadership to achieve Independence Group objectives
Qualifications:
Ten years of independence or compliance experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Licensed CPA or JD is preferred
Applied working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB audit standards is preferred
