Watch: Career Advice As the Director, Technical Sales, you will be leading a team of specialized Technical Sales Leads (TSLs) and Field Enablement Lead resources. This team will be the technical and complex subject matter experts in Surface, Windows 10, Windows Phone, EMS and EMS Advanced Workloads. They support the Field sales teams in large and complex sales and deployments of these technologies. You will need to work closely with technical sales leadership in the field to ensure that the technical resources are capable and optimally allocated to the highest priority customers. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in customer facing roles and had success leading highly motivated technical teams that are customer facing and focused on leading edge businesses.
This technical sales leadership role has a high product group focus and is an opportunity to drive customer-centered impact on our strategy both in the near and long term. The Director, Technical Sales will play a pivotal role in delivering and landing key technical and selling skills with the Field to scale the sales and adoption of Surface, Windows 10, Windows Phone and EMS Advanced Workload solutions. The role will also be responsible for developing productive relationships with Microsoft WW Organization, including the Microsoft Marketing, engineering, and senior corporate leaders to support the business sales objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Director, Technical Sales for Device & Mobility organization, focusing on Microsoft’s EMS, Windows 10, Surface, Windows Phone and EMS Advanced Workload products
• Lead, coach and manage a team of Device & Mobility technical sales leads and field enablement lead, driving the areas on their effectiveness in winning technical decisions in opportunities and thereby contributing to revenue goals
• Identify, prioritize and escalate technical issues to accelerate selected deals and deployment blockers, providing technical feedback to engineering groups
• Play a leadership role in our technical sales communities, including Surface TSPs, Mobility TSPs, Windows TSPs, Windows Phone TSP GBBs and EMS Advance Workload TSP GBBs, providing technical sales leadership by example and scaling out through mainstream selling engines by supplying technical sales guidance, resources and best practices
• Lead the team responsible to define and manage communication field TSP onboarding, readiness and enablement strategy
• Influence the future evolution of the Windows Devices & Mobility Enterprise Sales by serving as the voice of the customer and technical sellers, driving the changes in partnership with WW teams.
Key Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in sales / technical-sales to enterprises, having successfully demonstrated the ability to significantly raise the capabilities of a large technical sales organization
• Strong experience, knowledge and interest in device (hardware and operating systems), security and enterprise mobile management technologies, business drivers and emerging mobility trends within Enterprise
• Proven track record of building technical and business relationships with senior executives and growing wallet share in large or highly strategic accounts
• Experience managing technical communities for maximum customer impact
• Proven ability to distill widely variant feedback and recommend actionable feedback to product teams, removing sales and technology blockers in a matrix organization
• Familiar with other key players in the corporate device & mobility solutions market
• Proven ability to coach and mentor a broad technical constituency - TSPs, consultants, partners
• Proven ability to influence and partner with Product Groups, engineering, SMSGR and Director Technical Sales to build technical sales excellence
