Microsoft is looking for a Director of Global Logistics, International Freight to join our Logistics team. This position will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of our comprehensive end-to-end Supply Chain Strategy.
This position has accountability within our supply chain for the global freight movement of goods from: 1) our manufacturing operations at various locations in the world who need to move prototype material or confidential product in a secure manner and 2) regional forward logistics for delivery of all inbound materials to our distribution operations or contract manufacturers and from them to our retail partners and consumers directly.

The right individual for this role must possess a service mentality with a customer centric mindset with their primary objectives as follows: 1) effectively deliver to market, 2) aggressively manage cost - total cost ownership, 3) enable scale, 4) drive quality service, and 5) support regulatory compliance.

Microsoft is looking for that individual that has proven expertise and depth in the global transportation industry with experience across both the operational and business aspects required for our logistics organization. The right individual will have experience in domestic and international tax, trade, freight payment, financials and import/export management. Expert in model simulations and formulas, the individual should understand how to best leverage providers and network to company advantage, using business intelligence and leading indicators. Ideally suited for the person who has previously worked in a factory environment, and knows best how to handle production operations from a shipping and transportation perspective.

Business Qualifications:
§ 5+ years’ experience required in Global Transportation Management preferably within a high tech manufacturer managing across customer segments from Retail, Distributor, Consumer, Enterprise, etc.
§ 3+ years’ experience managing globally outsourced transportation logistics services
§ 2+ years’ management operational experience at global logistics provider
§ Proven ability to define, drive, and implement strategy
§ Proven capability of handling complex program management
§ Hands on working experience with logistics management systems (TMS, WMS, etc.)
§ First-hand knowledge and working experience of domestic and international logistics management of tax, trade, and import/export
§ Proven leadership capability across direct and indirect individuals and groups (internal or external)
§ Strong critical thinking and resolution in ambiguous situations
§ Self-driven initiative to gain and share a broader knowledge of supply chain
§ Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively at all levels

Education:
Bachelor’s degree business, supply chain, operations, management, or engineering
