Director - Procurement - Jasper - Santa Clara


Job description
The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing an effective and strategic sourcing, procurement and distribution function in support of the company’s objectives. This position is a highly visible, vendor and supplier facing role working in concert with internal requirements from cross-functional management, responsible for supply chain negotiations, making purchasing and buying decisions, with a primary focus on price negotiations leading to continuous cost savings in order to meet or exceed our margin objectives. The position is based at our HQ office in Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities Include:
Develop and implement company policy/guidelines, sourcing and procurement activities in support of key business objectives and operational plans for purchasing, vendor/supplier management, inventory and replenishment.
Perform all procurement and contracting activities to include: pre-qualification, negotiation and preparation of contracts to obtain best price and service, request quotes/bids and payment terms from vendors and make recommendations/selections.

Develop and manage the Procurement process to include: conducting needs assessments, RFI/RFP preparation, data and competitive analyses, development of SLAs, establishing targets and inventory goals, managing and driving the purchasing P&L and monitoring performance.
Forecast demand and create supply plans that ensure availability of materials, products and services.
Develop material/services costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
Develops goals and objectives of the procurement function and procedures for the control of work flow.
Perform sourcing for equipment and services, supplies, materials and other business products and services.
Identify cost reduction opportunities and areas for improvement to achieve financial goals and drive performance and business results, making recommendations where appropriate.
Analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends.
Develop key relationships with suppliers and business stakeholders to improve business.
Develop strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiations with vendors. Obtain agreement on pricing, delivery and other terms.
Respond to any claims regarding contract law violation.
Lead objective and complex contract negotiations with key internal stakeholders, legal department and support groups in order to secure the best terms and price for the company. Resolve contract difference/disputes with vendors.
Collaborate with the legal department regarding major purchasing negotiations.
Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet cost, quality and delivery requirements.
Develop and oversee budget.
Update or establish new procurement strategies and processes based on changing market conditions.
Ensure communication of master pricing and service agreement to operating units.
Monitor and audit purchasing activities to ensure compliance and adherence to best practices in procurement activities.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of strategic sourcing and procurement experience.
Experience leading the development and implementation of strategic procurement plans
Must have technical aptitude –ideally experience in the telecommunications industry.
Experience developing and using Key Performance Indicators to manage the procurement process.
Ability to anticipate and identify needs and issues.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in interpreting and negotiating contracts.
Superior negotiation, customer relations and collaboration skills.
Ability to interface at all levels to include C-level management
Budget management experience.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Independent judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong analytical, budgeting, problem solving and strategic planning experience.
