VMware is expanding our Internet of Things (IoT) technology solutions. You will play a critical role as a Business Development leader for the IoT business at VMware, including planning and execution in the areas of early stage business development, strategy and execution with key partners, customer engagement and evangelism, vendor management, and building out VMware’s IoT ecosystem.
Strategic thinking, critical analysis and clear communication are required for success in this role. This will entail working with the respective Product Marketing and Engineering teams on VMware’s IoT roadmap, as well as with the go-to-market and partner teams to promote the joint solutions.
Stellar business ethics as well as business planning and teaming skills are essential. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and represent IoT customers and the IoT team well in front of senior executives and be able to travel.

Work with strategic accounts on a day to day basis
Collaborate on joint customer opportunities and sales alignment, negotiation of contracts, etc.
Determine short and long term strategy with partners and the joint solutions we bring to market.
Work with VMware Engineering, IT and Field organizations as an ally to determine the best joint approach
Effectively maintain relationships, access, and influence across VMware, partners, and customers.
Assess and map customers and partners to VMware selling and go-to-market needs and opportunities for the IoT space, especially for an early adopter market
Job Requirements:
Deep understanding of IoT, including competitors, complementary vendors and product offerings
Solid knowledge of two-tier distribution model with direct experience interacting and driving business initiatives with Solution Providers
Drive technology solutions through development and customer validation to customer success
Strong analytical skills including defining, measuring and analyzing customer and market insights and translating those for IoT solution development
Engage in customer research and lead discussions with customers about value, positioning and pricing
Distinctive problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment
Strategic thinker with experience presenting solutions to senior-level audiences
Interact and communicate with various levels in the organization from individual contributor to senior executives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related technology field. MBA a plus
7-10+ years of work experience in technology industry or function
Consulting experience or equivalent business strategy work
Deep experience with product lifecycle process & management – from roadmap to execution
3+ years experience in a customer-facing role
Prior leadership/management experience preferred
Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment and execution in new areas with tight timelines
High energy and comfort working in a fast-paced, start-up style environment
