Director - Mobile Engineering - Fanatics - San Francisco

Job description

We are opening a new mobile development center in San Francisco and are looking for an engineering leader who can grow and manage a great team. Our top priority is building great iOS and Android native applications. The ideal candidate is a full-stack developer who can build and lead app development teams while working effectively with our backend and API teams to make sure the end-to-end experience is seamless. Over time the role can grow to drive mobile web development and innovative backend services. We are looking for a smart, savvy technologist who loves clean beautiful product, understands ecommerce and wants to build unique experiences that leverage the capabilities of mobile platforms and excite the passions of sports fans. We want to build really cool, innovative experiences. We hope you want this too.

Hire and lead teams to develop mobile apps.
Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to define the mobile roadmap.
Work closely with back-end/API teams to understand the end-to-end architecture, provide input to back-end teams on mobile requirements and optimize mobile implementations.
Drive teams to rapidly add new functionality, solve complex problems and ship defect free code.

Desired Skills and Experience

BS, MS or PhD BS, MS, or Ph in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of industry experience.
3-5 years of technical leadership experience in software development with a strong track record of building strong developer teams and great native mobile applications
2+ years native mobile application development experience in Android or iOS, ideally both.
Mobile web experience with good skills in HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and JQuery Mobile and knowledge of mobile browsers and their differences.
A great communicator who can listen, learn, and influence.
A technical leader who strives to achieve exceptionally high quality design and software architecture.
Independent, self-motivated, and an avid technologist.
Sense of humor, willingness to laugh at danger and an appreciation of the ironic are all pluses.
