Race Director - Tough Mudder LLC - Brooklyn


Job description

The Job:

We are looking for a satellite Race Director with an abundance of smarts and patience to join our team to run event operations. The RD will be responsible for producing a suite of events all over the country, spending approximately one week on-site and managing a Tough Mudder operations team, construction partners, vendors and other stakeholders.

This is a part-time, contract position. The successful candidate does not need to be based in NYC.


The Work:

Responsible for onsite event execution and delivery (against a pre-defined event delivery agenda) with superior customer satisfaction and safety records
Accountable for ensuring that all required onsite activities and tasks are completed for any given event
Point of command and final authority for all onsite, event-related decisions
Responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable event environment throughout the weekend
Act as Tough Mudder point person for site inspections in the week leading up to the event
Maintain and enforce all site specific operations plans, schedules and budgets
Ensure that all zones are functioning properly during the event weekend and that TMHQ, event staff and volunteers are briefed properly and appropriately allocated throughout the weekend
Responsible for managing senior-most relationships during event week. This includes venue owners, sponsors, third party service providers, vendors, medical/safety providers, and volunteer staff coordinators
Serve as the face of Tough Mudder across all third party relationships associated with the event
Troubleshoot any issues or challenges as they arise
Provide clear, detailed and comprehensive post event reports to the General Manager and Operations Team

The Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
7+ years of work experience in similar event director, operations or related positions
Extensive experience with mass-participant events (10k+)
Must have valid driver’s license
