Lead and direct the planning, development and delivery of observational database research in multiple therapeutic areas. Partner with various stakeholder groups in GSK to maximize the unique contribution of Real World data to their priority projects. Design and deliver strategic plans for observational research support aligned with business needs and priorities of diverse customer groups in multiple therapy areas and across all phases of the drug development pipeline.

• Assure delivery of research studies and key contributions to diverse customer groups across GSK, including departments, matrix teams and project teams in multiple therapeutic areas and countries. Support research efforts and business/scientific decision-making from drug discovery to lifecycle management.
• Provide technical and team leadership and expertise on complex database research projects and initiatives with significant impact to GSK. Provide expert consultancy for all levels and aspects of observational database research across many diverse disciplines, including epidemiology, health outcomes and health services research, commercial analysis/market research.
• Drive innovation by applying technical, scientific and database expertise to lead, contribute to and influence major cross-functional GSK observational data research initiatives as well as industry-based and other external collaborations to encourage and guide use, novel approaches and national/ international policy development for electronic patient healthcare data.
• Develop and implement database research program related strategies, new capabilities, and evaluate new areas for observational research within the company, and identify innovative and cost-effective methods to conduct these studies.
• Play a leading role in helping the organization better understand the value of observational data and to better take advantage of it to meet GSK business needs. Identify and create new business development opportunities to build and maintain new customers and business partnerships for greater observational data access and utilization aligned with GSK business needs and priorities.
• Develop effective networks to assure alignment with business needs. Liaise closely with existing and new customer groups in GSK, in order to assess and leverage opportunity for observational data to impact within the project life cycle.

Basic qualifications:

• Postgraduate degree in an applied quantitative analytic discipline such as Statistics, Health Economics or Epidemiology
• 5 years experience (can include post doc) as min.
• From industry or academic setting, must have experience in the creation, testing and application of predictive and explanatory models, and familiar with the application of a variety of advanced methods to observational healthcare data
• Experience of data handling of large, electronic healthcare databases and programming with major statistical applications, such as SAS or R, is required.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD. would be ideal
• Teaching and/or consulting experience is preferred
• 5+ years experience conducting observational research in life sciences industry environment
